So excited!!! I remember watching the Tagalog dub of ATLA way way back and to see the LA. Great reaction! See you on Feb 22!

The fact that you recognised every major character shows they did a good job on casting.

I completely agree with your comment and Mike and brian being great with Aaron... a lot of people don't realize how much of the greatness comes from the head writer...Aaron. speaking of Aaron, he created his own series... the Dragon Prince. It's good, but it does give some avatar vibes.
@liprekt11 ай бұрын
Yes, I've heard about The Dragon Prince. It's decent, like Legend of Korra, but ultimately also "lacking" in some aspects. I think Mike and Bryan plus Aaron make for a great team; but separately, I think they have some shortcomings in certain aspects that the other could compensate for. Mike and Bryan's departure from the live action, I feel, was more about them being able to run their own studio (Avatar Studios) versus having to stay with Netflix and just be a part of the live action ATLA (i.e. more money and creative freedom on the other side of the fence).

Yes I absolutely agree with your thoughts on Mike and Bryan! I love that they created the show and respect them for that, but a lot of the amazing decisions that contributed to the greatness of avatar wasn’t written by them. Also it seems like Mike was an executive producer on the 2010 movie (though I’m not sure if he was a Producer during the duration of the whole shooting) …. So creators involvement doesn’t mean it’ll be great! Anyways cannot wait for this show! I loved the trailer so much.

Same here. Loved this trailer...so much so that I completely forgot to talk about how great the bending looks! I did already talk a bit about my expectations from the bending in my Teaser reaction from a couple months back. And with Mike and Bryan, I think people put too much meaning in their departure. I think they had no choice but to accept Nickelodeon's offer to run THEIR OWN STUDIO versus staying with Netflix and being "just a part of the live action ATLA."

5:06 He was standing up in the cartoon, too. About the scar... Personally, I think it´s really inconsistent in the cartoon (when Zuko needs to be all tortured and traumatized for a scene, the scar looks ugly and terrifying... But when he´s in a romantic subplot, or going undercover, the scar suddenly looks much more subtle and easy to hide). I don´t think some of the stuff with Zuko in seasons 2 and 3 would be believable in live action, with a much bigger scar.
@liprekt11 ай бұрын
About him standing up, yeah I eventually realized this later on in the video on my 3rd rewatch of the trailer. The dang Shyamalan movie made me misremember this scene! Haha

It's just a bit I decided to do for the teaser last year and now the trailer. I don't think I have the "it factor" to go viral, but thanks anyway my dude! 🔥

I would imagine that the scar went through many variations until they found one that looked good for Live Action since one Eyebrow might have looked off, especially when he'd have his hair cut off.
@liprekt11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I guess so... Just wish there was more texture to it though instead of being flat and looking like a birthmark. But I do get it. Ultimately it doesn't matter as long as they nail Zuko's characterization. Super hyped!!
@MetalPharoah11 ай бұрын
@liprekt All I'm hoping for now is we see Sokka dressed as a Kyoshi Warrior, but it seems they didn't do that or if they did they didn't use the makeup from what we see in the Kyoshi fight of the trailer.

Aang will eventually catch up to Katara in height. During their interview he was a bit taller and his voice already dropped. What's TEMU?
@liprekt11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've seen the interviews. He''s taller now and his voice is deeper. TEMU is like WISH, or AliExpress, where they sell "heavily discounted" products. Basically I'm suggesting that I am "discount Zuko." 😁
@WilmaWalma11 ай бұрын
I agree with what you're saying about Zuko's scar. It could've been so much bigger and better. At first I thought they maybe didn't want to do that because it would make him unattractive, and that's something I'm sure they don't want to... but then I saw some amazing cosplayer that made great scars, and these guys didn't turn any less attractive. So I do wonder why they chose not to do the scar bigger.... And I don't see the issue either about Aang and Katara being far apart in age, because just like you said, they won't get together until much later... and I have a feeling they will change the time line, because Gordon Cormier will grow up too fast otherwise, and in that case, it will be no problem when the day comes and they do get together... and like you said too, the story was never really about the romance, and them being a couple, so I feel like people are making a too big deal out of it. Also, I really enjoyed your reaction! I'll defintiely watch you react to the show if you decide to do that here on KZbin.

Thanks for watching! And yes, I'll be reacting to the live action ATLA here on my channel!

Aang is only 2 years younger than Katara - now 12 and 14 is a bit off, by the time Aang gets to 17 the 2 years is not so bad and once Aang reaches 20, the 2 years is nothing at all. I married a woman who was almost 2 years older than me. At the start of the series, Aang had a crush on Katara - that's not strange at all for a 12 year old to have a crush on a 14 year old - a bit odd if the 14 year old had a crush on a 12 year old. The series is more than a year so by the end Aang would have been 13 going on 14 - at that point, the two having crushes on each other is not really all that strange - now add in the fact that the world was kind of equal to mid 1800s Earth, and those ages are very normal [remember that in Earth history, that time period a man was normally raising a family by the time they were 19 or 20 but they could get married as young as 14 - it's important to remember the past is not the same as modern times]
@liprekt11 ай бұрын
I do understand that, and Aang and Katara are canon. I was just talking about the actors here and the people's comments about them being "too incompatible physically because of the choice in casting." I just wish people wouldn't obsess too much about pairing them together during the series' run because there's bigger fish to fry in the story of ATLA.
@TheFireMonkey11 ай бұрын
@@liprekt Well, the actor playing Aang is actually 14 and the one playing Katara is 17 - and frankly, to my eye they pass reasonably for the ages of the characters so it remains the same as far as I am concerned. But really, it sounds more like people seeking something to complain about. There will always be some people who are not happy no matter what is done.
@Bananies1211 ай бұрын
I was thinking about this as well that they look even more separated by age than in the cartoon; but it's not the years, it's just the fact that 14-17 is a huge growth period for both men and women in regard to puberty. Aang's actor is just starting puberty whereas Katara's actress is basically through it. I'm thinking by the end of the show, they'll look closer in age. Aang's actor already looks and sounds so much older in interviews than in the trailers 😅
@TheFireMonkey11 ай бұрын
@@Bananies12 I agree with the issue you point out. It is far easier in animation since people look as old as you draw them and only change when you change them - as soon as you do live action with young people who are still changing quickly, there is little the producers can do about it so the audience needs to take some responsibility for how we view the characters. I mean, we can believe that Aang and Katara can bend elements, but we can't choose to see them as the ages they are intended to represent?

Yup. I played the trailer twice, then a 3rd time during the "Thoughts" chapter of the vid where I talk about some things and it was at 11:46 when I remembered that he also stood up in the cartoon. Shyamalan's movie made me misremember that scene, unfortunately. haha

True. The presence of the creators doesn't autimatically mean "priceless product". I already said this multiple times that LOK also came from them but I really really don't like it.

I didn't care for legend of Kora. It was OK. Great animation. Some aspects of the spirit world was changed and I couldn't grasp and connect with the characters. Most of all story and arch of Kora just fell from the middle to the end.
@liprekt11 ай бұрын
My sentiments, exactly. Definitely great animation, art, and fight choreographies in LoK. Just that the characters did not stick with me; none of them stood out, not even Tenzin. I especially did not like the Spirit World in LoK. Hated how the spirits were now labeled as "good spirits" and "bad spirits that needed to be cleansed," because they kind of made the spirits follow HUMAN moral code. In ATLA, the spirits were neither "just good" or "just bad"; they served a purpose in the real world, but when they are disturbed, like Hei Bai or The Painted Lady, they retaliate in their own way, and sometimes their actions could be misconstrued as "evil" by humans, like when Hei Bai took the villagers when he was upset that his home was being destroyed by deforestation, but really he wasn't being evil, just making a point. Then there's The Painted Lady who was bogged down by all the pollution that instead of actively punishing the people, she just decided to become absent until they figured it out themselves. Also, to me, the whole of Legend of Korra felt disjointed. People keep saying "oh but they didn't know they were gonna get another season." That is no excuse. MOST shows never know if they're going to get renewed for a new season.
