This scene is the perfect example of how much potential this show has, despite a few flaws here and there.

Heroes don’t make sacrifices for honor or glory. They do it because deep down they know it’s right. The 41st bowing to Zuko was an absolute tear jerker.

Actually loved this concept being added to the show. Making this crew connected to Zuko's punishment and banishment is brilliant. Hope they continue and make the 41st Division Zuko's personal crew/boat well into being Fire Lord.

Anyone expecting all of the magic to be captured from the original was setting themselves up for disappointment. This however is a great example of taking the original show and adding some amazing layers to what we saw. These little details really added depth to the experience.

Although I have my gripes with the adaptation, I can also admit when it does something right. Imho the 41st being the crew on Zuko's ship (best canon shipping) and essentially in a poetic way his story of growth being tied to his crew being the 'expendables' of the Fire Nation proving their country wrong is an amazing addition, and is canon now for me for all versions, too good not to have it be.

the OG writers actually wrote that in, one of the changes they made b4 they left the production. Glad they kept it in.

"Our Prince has Returned!" Man, as military it's clearly said where their loyalty is. No Fire Nations, No king ozai, But they will follow Prince Zuko!
@korsekilАй бұрын
Because that scene alone shows that the Fire Nation generals and Ozai consider them expendable. But Zuko? Zuko has proven in that scene that he is twice the Firelord his father is. Even as royalty he REFUSED to see his soldiers as fodder. And he was burned for it. Zuko believes that scar is proof of his shame when in fact it is proof of his honor, of his love for his country and of the fact that he will sacrifice himself before he lets any harm come to his people. That scar is proof that Zuko is the Firelord of his people.
@brucewayan449Ай бұрын
@@korsekil exactly, that hit deep when we Saw in cartoon he can confront his father with bravery. Ozai maybe not realized but he Made zuko as himself but with heart

One of the very few nice additions upon the original. I like how Zuko's crew is actually fleshed out. They're not just faceless nobodies who you have no idea how they got stuck with Zuko.
@D3sdinova8 ай бұрын
This was actually based on the 12th episode of the original. In it Zuko also saves the 41st, but it isnt mentioned they are his crew. But that character is obviously also based on him from the original.
@talisavy15612 ай бұрын
Exactly. When I first saw this scene, I thought, “Oh, that’s why they’re with him. It makes so much sense now.” In the original, we have no idea what happened to the 41st Division, or why Lieutenant Jee and company were traveling with Zuko and Iroh. Now, we are a given a reason that respects the cartoon, and adds depth to Zuko’s relationship with his crew.

I feel like people are too harsh with the live action. It's not perfect, but people are putting too much emphasis on nostalgia. This scene was one of the best in the franchise, live action or animation. Brought a lot of depth to the storyline.
@leviromani34754 ай бұрын
My only beef, only reason to say it isn't perfect is my best friend will not watch animated ANYTHING. It was my second chance at bringing them into the fandom, with the cabbages, with the fun playful Aang that grows over the series to become more responsible. A Katara that's not a role filler. Proper sexism issues being cut feels unwarranted... It's good. Just not able to live the dream with my closest friend.

Zuko fought hard for love of his father and while he did not earn any, he only received permanent scar. However, what he deserved is the respect of his crew and Lieutenant Jee, who respected him for sacrificing his face just to rescue their bodies.

I know it's not perfect, but I think the reboot so far has, on balance, been an excellent revamping of the story. I love the original cartoon, of course, but I think the new show has a lot to offer too. If you only let yourself appreciate one version of a story or one point of view, you will never truly be able to appreciate all the beauty, mystery, wonder, and wisdom in the world. And, in the immortal words of Uncle Iroh himself, "It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If we take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale." Also CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH OF A TEAR-JERKER THIS SCENE WAS?!??!
