Obviously you are a very good instructor, explaining everything without glazing or rushing over things. I'm a product trainer, the only right way to teach/train anyone is always assume they know nothing, even if they think they knows everything. start at the begin, explain each step or process, never rush, don't sound condescending or frustrated, everyone learns at different rates, and remember a relaxed pupil will learn more than a nervous pupil

Great idea. But fact is you cannot always use the same marker point for each and every curb. Some curbs are higher than others. One trick is to simply park beside the curb and if you see you are still far away, simply turn the steering to the right then reverse the car towards the curb. When you are now close enough to the curb, turn steering to the left while still reversing to bring the car parallel to the curb. Of course, you need to ensure you have enough space behind you during the initial parking.

Thats what i do. One more thing i would like to add, while reversing, turn the wheel same amount to the left as much you did to the right. For example if you rotated wheel half a turn while reversing to the right, rotate the wheel half a turn while reversing to the left as well.

The center of the dash as he showed can also be used to judge how close his right or left wheel is to the curb when going in at an angle, depending on which side the driver's seat is placed. So looking at the video, you can see the curb riding up the hood towards the center where his hand was. That's the turn point or pretty close to it

Firstly the reference point will depend a lot on the angle your car is towards the curb. Secondly, usually there are other cars parked along the road so in real circumstances most likely you won't have that much distance alongside the curb to straighten your car.
@arghyachatterjee30082 жыл бұрын
Well, you said "When I feel close enough" - that does not work with a new driver like me. We lack the 3D vision that experienced drivers have. What you need to tell us is, how do we measure when we are close to the curb, e.g. when we can see the curb line at the center of the windshield and then start turning left and straighten the car. Once the car is straightened, look through the passenger side mirror to ensure that the curb line is at the middle or end of the mirror and parallel.
