Some minor facts about this 'battle' 1. There was a second Royal Engineer present, not shown in the film, Driver Robson, Chard's batman. He spent the engagement keeping an eye on the engineer's stuff and accomapanied Chard on his victory tour when back in the UK. 2. More British casualties were caused by bullets than by spears 3. AS well as the 24th Regiment of Foot and assorted support units and colonials, there was one man from the 3rd and one from the 90th foot as well as 4 from the Royal Artillery 4. Chard wasn't there to build a bridge, he was supposed to oversee the transfer of supplies over the river by ferry.

Of the 17 dead, only 5 were killed by musket fire that the Zulus used. This group did not participate in the sacking of Isandhlwana. All the defenders suffered some kind of spear wound, ranging from minor to serious.
