Cool to see a video about my home town. The Escher-Wyss-Platz area came only to live about 25 years ago. Before, it was quite peripheral and industrial. Coffee and Croissant is a standard breakfast for everybody leaving the house for breakfast. Remember that Switzerland is the largest coffee trader in the world.

THANK YOU Mark, Ying & Micah for sharing you travels & food discoveries with us. I really feel like I'm visiting the world when I watch them. You & your wife truly seem to be very gracious, genuine & giving ... your son will be also. I can imagine the sacrifice of being constantly on the road and travels to unknown places; it must be tough at times for your family - nevertheless, the three of you always seem radiant, smiling and happy. What is your secret????? Thanks for your great work.

I would have loved to visit Zurich in the past, I don't know why I didn't when I was stationed in Europe while in the military service in the late 1970s. (But I did get to Lucerne, though.) Anyway, good little mini-travelogue here, thanks for including that part about the tram ride. What a great thing the Swiss have done with that mode of transportation in the city. One thing that attracts me to Switzerland is that they don't have any of the present social/poltical consternation present in the U.S. I could elaborate on that, but I'd rather not open up that can of worms, and in a particular manner.

Another wonderful, fun video. I have to say, though, that in spite of your obvious video need to focus on food and place, I wish you'd include more than just flash shots of your special sweethearts. Micah and Ying and your including them in your travels are what make your videos heartwarming and far more interesting than other similar posts. Shots of Micah's face are priceless. They remind me of when my wife and I took our babies on trips. Now we take grandkids! I always look forward to your next post. Mahalo nui (thank you) from Hawai'i.

If you take an hotel outside the city it will be less expensive. The public transportation are good and you can easily go to the center of Zürich. If instead of paying about 500CHF (in your example) you pay "only" 400CHF, you can use that 100CHF to ride around the city for a looooooong time. So look also in the villages and cities around Zürich, it's better to pay a little less for the hotel and take a 30minutes ride to go to the downtown. And for the tram tickets, it's not 2.80 per ride, usually the tickets are valid 1h for all the transportation available (look at the tickets or when in doubt). You can also take a two ways ticket, that is also valid for all transportation and for 24h. He is more expensive, but he worth it if you want to visit the city. There are also special city pass offers that allow you transportation and entrances to museums and other interesting places at a good price.
