@@RayB1656 Dude, this is getting so annoying... This is a show. It’s a drama which uses the historical blueprint. The reason millions of people suddenly grew an interest in Norse mythology and history, was because of this show. Check out documentaries on the Vikings, a few hundred views before the show, hundreds of thousands afterwards. That’s what these shows are supposed to do, get you interested enough to go research for the truth behind the myths, not be documentaries.

Bjorn’s death scene is definitely one of the most badass and memorable scenes in the whole show. IMO Ivar’s death was a little weak. Not sure if Bjorn’s epic death made it feel weak, but it definitely paled in comparison.

That was kind of the point, they wanted Ivar (the most animalistic and barbaric character) to die the most human death and to show that even he had fear. (There’s an interview w/ the actor who played Ivar online where he spoke about this)

Although I'm not entirely satisfied with the finish of the series, I like how each of Ragnar's sons' end reflected their father's personality. Hvitserk becoming a christian and Ivar going into the middle of the battle hoping he would go to Valhalla reflect Ragnar's inner conflict about the christian God and nordic gods. Ubbe reflects Ragnar as a traveller and explorer. Bjorn reflects Ragnar as a man who would die defending his home, a man who would fight until the very end and whose death was inspiration for others. Even Sigurd died as a result of a fight within his family which was also the case for Ragnar.

@@calypsoathenairos8622 Actually, now that im writing this, i think acting is at the same level. Just look at Tyrion, Cersei, Ramsay, Theon. And for the other part, Ragnar, Ivar, Floki. If you don't count the last two seasons, objectively, Game of Thrones is way better than Vikings. I think Vikings is better in the emotional part, mostly because it has less characters to deal with, but yes, Vikings is better in that aspect.

Nah. I would have like that as well but it defeats the purpose of the show. It wouldn't make sense as a key theme in the whole show is faith and how so many characters were questioning their faith. Especially in the last scene where Ubbe is asking Floki about the gods and Floki responds with "do not bother me with that". You can also see it when both Alfred and Ivar are calling to their gods but none answer them. The show leaves with all the characters questioning their faith and I think it does it extremely well.

In the Vikings TV show, Ivar ( Ivarr Ragnarsson ) is shouting on the battlefield that they are Vikings warriors and they have no intention to die as old men and die in their beds....---this is quite odd, since the Icelandic Sagas mentioned that the real historic Ivarr Ragnarsson, died in his bed, in Dublin Ireland, from a sudden fever and infection possibly, dysentery , around 873 . ...

@@RayB1656 if you research the show its knowwhere near historically accurate. Rollo is ragnars brother when in reality they're is zero corolation between them bar they likely raided Frankia roughly 60 years apart from each other. I was simply quoting what ivar is saying as he dies in the show. Micheal hurst has said that it was never intended to be historically accurate and if you do your research this is common knowledge.

@@jamesnoonan7450 ---- Yes, Ragnarr LoÖbrok was living in the 9th century, if he ever existed ; possibly various individuals with similar names and similar events ; and Rollo was living near a hundred year later. The Viking history is not common knowledge and many believes that the Vikings TV show is the real thing ! What I dislike from Hurst or the producers is that they have embellished the Viking stories to add drama and emotions, where , for example, the sons of Ragnarr, Ivarr Ragnarsson and Ubba were famous for their cruelty , horror and viciousness toward women and children in East Anglia... furthermore, the real story of Floki Vilgeroarson and his wife and 2 daughters in Iceland, is a lot more interesting than the '' fanatical '' Floki in the series ......

IVAR is truly son of Ragnar. All sons refused Ragnar except Ivar only he is understood his father. Ragnar gone happy when one of his childs appreciated and supported him.

I'd have to disagree. The others, save for Sigurd (who was far more detached due to his awful upbringing), will have been more effected by his ten year disappearance as they actually knew him. Ivar didn't. He was sheltered by his mother. His image of Ragnar was closer to that of any other person who'd heard of his adventures and achievements - he was nigh godlike. So it's hardly a wonder he didn't possess the same anger at their father's absence that the other sons did. He only began to see his father as a man when they travelled to Wessex, which was long enough to push Ivar to utilise his strengths rather than be shackled down by his weaknesses, as that would be the only way for him to succeed and, more importantly, survive. Yet it was not enough time to discard the mask that had been placed on his father. Each son mirrored and honoured certain traits of their father. Ivar truly believed in the legend, saw his father as less of a man and more as a greater being, which led him to believe the same for himself. SPOILER Only when faced with his own death did Ivar begin to understand his mortality. So...was Ivar the only one that understood his father? No. None of the sons did. They fathomed parts of who he was because they each carried those parts within themselves. They never had the time to truly understand him, even Bjorn (who was the only one initially to accept his father had faults and was a man). Ragnar was not only renowned for his dreams, he was a slave to them. This made him a poor husband and father - not due to a lack of love, but a consuming ambition - yet it also made him a brilliant man. A legend.

the thruth is that we don't need to know. Michael Hirst knew it and that's why he didnt show his journey outside Kattegat. The important thing with the fact that he left Kattegat is that the throne was empty and after all this time, Kattegat have changed. And of course, no one support Ragnar anymore and this is the beginning of the era of the Ragnarssons. That was the only reason so we don't need to see what he did while he left ;)

The fact that Valhalla's music fits so perfectly in this videos stands to show how well they had prepared for that game. Choosing Einar Selvik as a composer for the soundtrack was probably the best choice that they could do, both for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Vikings. Also perfect edit, I hadn't noticed the similarities between Harald's and Halfdan's death.

They always were beautifully done and this is an epic tribute to an epic show that never received the attention it deserved. I am not a "fanboi" type and never commented here before but wanted to thank you for capturing so well the heart of what made this one of the greatest series of out generation. They didn't blow it either. Though not perfect, the final two seasons paid homage to it's own story and heroes past. You captured that so well and thank you.
