ZWIFT RACE ANALYSIS - THE BEST ZWIFTER EVER!?

Bit clickbaity that title don't you think? Ye... well technically no, in my humble opinion this guy has all the attributes needed to be a great Zwifter. High FTP, low body weight, an explosive sprint and he knows how to play the game. He knows his routes, he knows when and where he needs to be and knows his power ups... Zwift category system should be like in chess. Everybody gathering points based on the race results and other competitors points. Similar to ELO system, where your opponent is weaker you get less points, when you are the underdog and you win (or place better than expected) you got more points. And then based on the points we can make the categories. It would take few races to get a baseline score, but it would be more fair and more realistic system. Also it would make a pretty good leaderboard where people can compete, afaik zwiftpower got something like this but I dont know much about that.

Put him in one of the pro am races, they are a whole different story! Not saying he couldn’t win, just that the race you analysed is a C grade race in comparison

That guy averaging close to 1000 watts will no doubt be picked up by a world tour team. Having that in his toolbox, he'll be able to dominate TTs, mountain top finishes, one-day races, week-long tours, grand tours and anything else that comes his way. WOW what a find.

Cam is a great Zwifter, I would love to see him race in the USA Cycling Series which has all the big hitters in it and super experienced at Zwift…time to step it up Cam, and maybe win back a certain British jersey that was stolen ;)

Ian Haskins to be fair, yes he cheated for the trim bike but BC should have made the event even by giving everyone the same bike. At the end of the day he learnt the tracks put down the power and deserved the jersey on that day.

Cam is definitely a very good Zwifter, I always enjoy these videos. Could be interesting to analyze (analysis, not analization... :P ) somebody like Ed in some of his races as well, he occasionally has very competitive races and isn't quite as proficient on Zwift as Cam. More for you to analyze and advise. ;) Some recent suggestions; dPac Apr12, 3R Volcano Apr18, Flanders Apr21. The latter two feature Cam and Guus as well, so it has the team aspect as well. Ps. I call, Fake News and Editing Magic! xD Cam accidentally used that aero, but was fortunate enough to get a new one later on. Doesn't change your point, but it did happen. ;P

You've concentrated on his cycling ability. What about his tech skills. He managed to hold commentry and maintain varying tech adjustments! Mouse on the wall, I thought he was just leaning on it when I first watched it.

Cameron is recognizing riders who are falling off and surging around them. The “sticky draft” is real and it benefits you to get out from behind a slower rider you’ve become stuck to. Also when you start drifting back, reaccelerate with a few spirited pedal stroke to latch onto someone overtaking you.

Brilliant commentary Pritch. A couple of mistakes that I would like to point out. With 6 or 7 more tries to get the aero again not using it early is a mistake. He could have gone to the front use the Aero power up and not really increase his power. This would have given him a gap and possibly kick off a group split. Also a couple of times he slipped off the back, yes he got back on but that is wasting energy. I agree with your assessment that Cam is very skilled at Zwift racing with the caveat being it has to be a crit. I prefer to watch Ash Beech's races, he did more hilly races, we don't see cam doing those.

Ye true... Although unless there is a climb and you're strong like Ash trying to off the front will never work on zwift,the speed of thw blob is too high and a solo rider could never put out thw watts needed unless there was a hill to alow the blob down

Too many sandbaggers. In a race i did yesterday C grade finished with 1st 4.61, 2nd 5.22 w/kg with the D grade 1st 4.50 2nd place was 4.98w/kg. B grade should have been in A. It's not fair on the people that put themselves in the correct Grade. Also why do alot of the people who get into the top ten always have private profile 🤔🤔

@Ian Haskins i find it comical that you think the bike made the difference. Bibby should have won by that contention but didn't even place. His current results on a relatively slow frame are testament enough to it being the engine that matters. Watts are king on the flat and rolling routes and Cam put out the most every time it mattered in that event. We can also debate BC not following their weigh-in rules and putting Cam and a couple of other riders at a 1kg disadvantage if you like? Zwift testing has shown that any advantage of the fastest bikes in the game is neutralized by 1-2k g of weight gain.

hey chris, I really like your analysis in general. For this topic, I truly admire Cam: he is powerful, he is a fighter, he is mentally at the top of the top.. However I must admit that some other Zwifters regularly beat him like Ed Laverack, Vegan cyclist?, etc... Especially in the mountain coz Cam is not a feather! In brief, you guys rock!

After Zwift power updates I still feel there's sand bagging. They need to incorporate alogrythems from Xert. They'll never truly stamp it out.

Sandbagging is completely pointless. I started Zwift in January and signed up to Zwift Power to do some racing. Started in C because no data for me to go on and very quickly ended up in A. I am a low end A rider with little chance of winning a race, but much more fun challenging myself than just riding around dropping everyone in a B or C race.

I agree; Cam would have won if he started his sprint earlier. Just look how fast he's catching up to 1st like 5m before the finish line. Oh btw. What I found very interesting about this video is the comparison between A and B group. For the next video: Please analyze what went wrong on your Veloton Tour de France stage. That was painful to watch ;-)

he prolly couldn't sprint with 250m to go cos he needed a couple secs rest after popping 1000w with 0.5km to go. and yea aero came a bit late, but brain power goes out the window when ur pushing 190+ bpm ^_^

I'm sorry this may be controversial as good as cam is and his amazing personality he's not "the best" he is very good. if you compare him do neo pros the difference is insane he's a very talented rider but there are better riders but lots of love to cam he's great!
