Yeah i love that detail in the short anime of Pokémon Origins. Brock pick a specific team of 1 badge, super cool detail that expanded the lore of how the Gym system works.

In the manga Pokémon Adventure it always worked like this. They also offer other good lore options, like Pokémon not saying their names but actually doing animal noises. I recommend checking out the first few volumes. :)

If you do Norman as the first gym on hard mode, that Drampa is a freaking menace. It has 85 base power dragon pulse at level 18 lol.

Alola as an open world experience would be wild. Tyrantrum is my favorite fossil, though Cradilly and Aerodactyl are tied for close seconds. I'd like more Unbound content; the 2.0 update and above really polished off the game with its wave of updates and reworks.

I really wish that they added this in an actual Gamefreak Pokemon game; the ability to pick where your "spawn point" is and going through the region the way you want with Gym Leaders being built around how many Badges you had would be so damn kickass.

21:28 here's why, already fairly defensive with an eviolite and the no guard ability to use strong attacks that have a higher chance of missing, I think it was used in gen 6 competitive Pokemon for a bit

Pokemon R.O.W.E. is clearly an incredible ROM hack, and I'm hoping to get to play it someday. Still, I think the whole "open world" concept hasn't quite been fully realized. I'm sure most people don't care about this, but the utter lack of activity from Team Aqua and Team Magma, the lack of interest from the mother and Professor Birch, Steven being basically nonexistent, it makes the world appear very hollow. Fortunately, that can be improved upon in later versions.

Agreed. I think people think of GTA as open world instead of Red Dead Redemption 2. Being able to go where you want doesn't make it an open world game, its just a game without a forced narrative. Having an active world that responds to the player and feels alive is what makes something open world.

small tip for Audino training (route 120, dexnav): fill your party with a single pokemon you wish to train, make it hold a lucky egg and 5 Audinos with Lucky Boost, you'll get a whopping ~20k for lv60 audinos

You can change the bike by opening the menu and pressing "L" if you're already riding the bike. If you're not, you'll just have to do it again, as doing this brings out the acro bike by default.

Did you know that recently (I think it was just after this video came out) this game released an update that included the Sevii Islands? Edit: Continuing to comment as I watch this I feel the need to comment on your dissing of "Castform in this. He actually receives a huge buff in this rom hack that if you have him hold a weather extending item then he automatically sets that weather as soon as he enters the field as if he had Drought, Sand Stream, etc. He also has buffed stats. This is true for many pokemon. I recommend taking a look at the documentation for this game where they have a document for what pokemon they have changed and how. Another thing you don't mention that is unique to this rom (to my knowledge) is that there is actually a cool signature move system where if specific pokemon know a move then it will work differently for them. The Kanto starters are three of them. Venasaur's Solar Beam's power is increased to 140, Charizard's Flamethrower has an increased chance to burn, and Blastoise's Hydro Pump has a severe increase in accuracy. Those are just some basic changes. My two favorite ones are actually Ninjask's Fury Cutter and Electrode's Electro Ball. Those two pokemon turn those moves into speed stat versions of Body Press. Yes, that means that Ninjask's Fury Cutter becomes more powerful every turn as it increases it's speed with Speed Boost.

Hey Zwiggo! After watching your video I tried ROWE and loved it. My question is how did grind levels bcoz every badge has quite a lot of jump in levels especially in late game. I tried Audino grinding but it was very boring. Can you tell the method you used ? Also loved the video. Great Work

There is actually a Pokemon Crystal ROM Hack named Pokemon Crystal Clear that is totally open world and has even following pokemon. At least 21 different starter and even a character creator.
