I can concur with this report. My AM3 has been fantastic right from the start. I'm seeing guiding numbers like yours. Five minute subs results in perfect round stars. I tried 10 minute subs and they were also spot on. I use mine with a 80mm refractor with the PE200 pier.

Rocking an AM3 & WO's RedCat71. Feels like a match made in heaven and the performance has been amazing.

Thanks for the video. I have been using an asi662 mc (just what I had available) with the zwo mini guidecscope and consistantly get guiding between .3 and .5 with my Am3 and Skywatcher ed80. Very pleased with it.

Hi Cody I like your vids been following for a while.I find the same with my AM3 with a askar 500 on most nights but some tend to be much worse.I have the old AM3 which hasn't got the cable management that the new ones have got and I am thinking that may be a cause.But I have had .3 at times of course poor seeing brings that to .8 but you cannot blame the mount for that.Keep up the good work

Awesome practical review Cody! Thank you!👍The AM3 looks to be a good choice for people planning on flying to star parties, dark southern skies, and the like. I haven't done any measurements, but it conceivable that the AM3 in alt-az configuration would, along with a camera, RedCat51/similar OTA, and guider would fit in a carry-on bag...and, if not, would the AM3 & tripod would not take a terrible amount of space or add a prohibitive amount of weight to checked baggage. 👍 Last, kudos re the lovely images...and I am looking forward to your review of the AM5N ! 😀

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yes - super portable package and could definitely be taken in a carry on.

Hi, do you have a suggestion for balancing the equipment when mounted to an AM3? Thanks
@4sapphireb5 ай бұрын
I’m a newbie and bought the am3 in October. Great product but now I’m limited in weight. I want a c11 badly but it’s too heavy. Just spend the extra 300 bucks and get the am5. I might buy a second though

I'm looking for help. I can't get Sharcap to connect to my mount and focuser. Do you have any suggestions?

interesting that you get better guiding with the 290mm mini (unfortunately no longer available). I presume it is because of the smaller pixel size. The closest to that that is available is the asi120mm mini - have you tried that by any chance? Does it give you better guiding than from the 220mm in the duo?
@AstroBlender5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I have the 120MM mini, 290MM mini, 174MM mini and 220MM mini (built into the duo), and the pixel size on the 290MM mini routinely gives me better guiding. The 220MM mini is a great guide camera though, and I still get good results with it as you can see. I haven’t tried the 120MM mini in a while, as the 290MM mini has been my go to.

Hey Cody, can you please elaborate on the exact settings you used for the guiding for both the duo and the 290? Do you think it guides better than the AM5? Thanks

I’ll have to check next time I’m out with it. My AM3 guides better than the AM5, but not the new AM5N. That mount is amazing so far. Averaging about 0.25” with the ASI178MM camera and RASA8.

@@AstroBlender Wanted to check in on your guide settings and mount tracking speed. I've got an AM3 with a 32mm uniguider and asi220 mini that I can't get below 1.75.

Great video, how would the mount peform with the Celestron 8 Edge HD and a OAG + ZWO camera? did you test your EdgeHD setup with the AM3?
