Good review. I have the same camera and am just starting to begin to use it. Have taken a few frame and focus photo's via SGP and find it to be sensitive and easy to shoot. Just been too busy kitting out my mount and accessories. Looking forward to your follow up photos.

Thank you, I have got a few images so far and the camera's performance is very good! I definitely need more time with this camera, if only the wind would calm down here!

Great shots! We have the same camera, but using ASIAirpro to capture. Any idea why our images are black and white?
@LepusNewMexicoAstronomy4 жыл бұрын
The raw images from this camera are going to be black and white until they are debayered, then they will show color. How this is done depends on your image capture/processing software that you are using.

Hey man! That piece that you have that actually holds the 1.25 filter, what’s it called? My cam didn’t come with one

Are you using this with a HyperStar and if so what adapters are you using to connect? And can you advise how to connect a 2" light pollution filter to it? Thx Again!
@LepusNewMexicoAstronomy3 жыл бұрын
Hello Richard. I cannot offer any precise info on the HyperStar question as I do not personally own one but I do recall that the HyperStar is ordered with specific camera mount of your choosing, and a ZWO camera mount is one of the choices. Your best bet would be to reach out to Starizona directly for accurate information. As far as the 2" light pollution filter question is concerned, the camera comes with a T2-M48 adapter (basically a 2" nose piece, has "16.5mm" printed on the side) that you should be able to thread your filter onto.

Great job! Can you tell me what software or softwares you are using to capture and process your photos? And I’m looking toward to seeing your installed set up on this. I just purchased this. Thx again!

For capture I use NINA, which is a free and open source astrophotography platform with a lot of great features. I also use Sharpcap for deep sky live viewing and for planetary/solar imaging. For processing I usually stack in Deep Sky Stacker and then develop the image in Photoshop. I've also used PixInsight on a trial license which is arguably the best processing software available for astro images. I'm very likely going to be transitioning over to PI in the near future. I'm hoping to get back out with this camera soon, but unfortunately it's been windy here every night for the last month, and that weather pattern doesn't look like it's going to change in the near future.

Lepus California Observatory thx! My confusion is from the instruction that indicate installing all the ASIStudio drivers etc as well as 3rd party ones. I did load Sharpcap and SIS based on their website. I’ll try NINA as well. Thx!

Hi. Great vid. Any issues taking calibration frames?
@LepusNewMexicoAstronomy4 жыл бұрын
I did a lot of research about cal frames with this camera before I purchased it, and applied some of what I learned to my own process when using this camera. Darks are taken the same as any other camera, but I do not use bias frames. Something about using short exposure frames for calibration purposes, say under 3 seconds, seem to be screwing up images. I have not seen anything concrete as to why this camera has trouble with short cal frames, theories range from temperature fluctuations to the high conversion gain mode that this camera uses. Since a bias is a dark frame taken at the shortest possible exposure the cam is capable of, I avoid them all together. I also make sure my flat frames are longer than 3 seconds and I also use dark flats at the same exposure. So far I have had good results with this method, of course I'm always on the lookout for better ways.

If you ordered direct from ZWO, how long was your wait time between order and delivery?
@LepusNewMexicoAstronomy4 жыл бұрын
I ordered from Agena Astro, and the wait time was only two days but Agena is only about an hour and a half away from my location. However I have heard that orders from ZWO are very quick, a week or less, as long as the camera you want is in stock.

As a followup, I received my order direct from ZWO, including the "backordered" ASI294MC Pro about a week after I placed the order. Most of the delay was in transit.

Hey howa it going quick question how did the 1.25 inch filter work woth the camera? Will I notice any bad vignetting or is it aomething that could be corrected woth flats. Reason I ask is because i want a 1.25 as opposed to a 2 inch but I am not sure if it works well wothoit vignetting . thank you hope to see more videos

Good video thanks. I have a 2" optolong L-extreme. Is there any way to attach it to this camera?
@dannychaing84283 жыл бұрын
Go to ZWO website to see the different configurations (no filter, with filter drawer..etc.). I bought a ZWO 21cm filter drawer (2") to replace the 21cm spacer that came with the camera. The 2" Optolong L-Extreme is amazing!

So if i have an Optolong L enhance or Optolong L pro, do i need a UV cut filter or do those qualify? I haven't gotten this with my redcat 51 yet so haven't tried it with my filters
@XwarpfactorX4 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't need an additional IR/UV cut with either Optolong filter, but always check the spectrum information for your filters since it will vary between manufacturers.
