I like Tetris 😂 I mentioned only one modern game in that list - Last Battle FYI, but that’s related to genre, not platform… Robocop - as well is superb implementation… almost forgot

Manic Miner ! Yes I'd agree..deserves number 1 place. I played a lot of these Zx Spectrum games back in the 80s Your video has helped me remember some great games i'd forgotten about.. 'Flying Shark'! 'Renegade' 'Match day 2' 'Thrust' 'Operation Wolf' 'Spellbound' 'Super Hangon' Among others.. My list would include 'Scramble' Terra Cresta' 'Chronos' 'Dizzy' And maybe 'R-Type'? ...But there were a lot of good games for the Spectrum....so its really hard to do a list.

There’s no science to it, no real thought process. It was simply, which games do I play and come back to the most. So brain dumped every game I played on screen and then figured out which are the games I come back to or play the most. This is the end result. The game that eventually wins, actually wins by a country mile, as I definitely play that more than any other game on the Speccy. In fact infinitely more 😀

@@ClassicReplay iirc there's a level in HoH where you end up falling down 6 levels if you miss a jump and the only way to get out of it was by putting a mat between Heels and Head, jumping with Heels and then switching to Head to jump again to knock over some other mats on top of a pillar so that you could get both out (you could get Head out on his own but without Heels you'd get stuck a few levels later). Memory is a bit vague but remember being so proud that I figured it out.

I don’t get how it’s a top ten list when in between each ranking there’s other titles introduced. So, between 8 and 9, five games are given a nod; surely that means one of those five should be at 9. Unless those five are at 8.2, 8.4, 8.6 etc . . . not seen that system used before though. It’s no big deal but it just made the list of ten totally moot for me. It’s more like a random pick of ten games out of the top 40ish. 🤔
@ClassicReplay
@ClassicReplay Жыл бұрын
As I explained in the vid, it’s just my random thought process. There was no planning. It was how I selected in my head which games got the slot. It appears to have gone down quite well and I noticed nobody else has tried it this way. It was just me, sitting on my favourite armchair thinking about the best games I could think of for each countdown. Crazy I know, but that’s me 😊

You’re right, top ten-50 lists are too stressful. 🙃 I did a top 50 in the comment section of another gamer and still having reply’s a year later. 😂 Loved the spectrum especially having fond memories of when Sinclair user type magazine was giving away a game every month. I was able to get titles that were around a year old for a couple of quid where as they were 7.99-9.99 new. Too expensive for a 14 yr old. But ideal when you can get them for just a couple of quid. The most frustrating game was army moves. I’ve never seen anyone complete that. Loved commando, flying shark, dizzy, spell bound, saboteur.... far too many to mention. Keep up the gaming. 😄👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

There’s a lot of nostalgia flowing back and forth in your reply. Chase HQ was immense in the Spectrum, as close as we could have wished for limitations aside, Outrun tried to look like the original but the car could only do 0 to 3fps at full pelt. Stunt Car Racer still plays a blinder I kid you not. Anyways, thanks for watching. Be sure to check out my other ZX Spectrum vids and have a Merry Christmas 🎅

I grew up in the Soviet Union/Russia and ZX Spectrum was a really big thing there starting from mid-80s. Ofc it was not the original but home made versions that were assembled and sold by some crafty individuals. The games used to be almost free since there were no copyright laws and games were sold on ordinary audio cassettes with 20 different on each one. I think I played like 500 Speccy games back in the days. Personal favorites (I am not going to make a top-10 its easier for me to just range the games by type): Best Adventure/Quest: Dizzy (all parts). Best fighting: Target Renegade Best racing: Chase HQ Best RPG: HeroQuest Best strategy: Nether Earth Best platformer: Captain Trueno 1,2 Best arcade: Star Raiders 2 Best space shooter: R-Type Best isometric: Knight Lore Best FPS: Operation Wolf Best movie adaptation: Robocop/Batman 3 (both are great cant choose 🙂) Best game ever: Elite P.S. There are so many more great ones I am not just going to list them all because it will be a really long list. Its simply amazing what this little computer was capable of. Cheers!

Random recommendation but damn, pleased it came up 👍 Brought back so many great memories. The 48k was my very first computer, it was the plastic keyboard version. I believe I was around 10yo, and I thought I was Elon Musk :) I remember buying the monthly magazine which had lotsa great programs in them. I used to waste away hours typing them in to see if they worked :) And also developed a serious gaming addiction due to Manic Minor, Robocop, Wotef etc etc, I can go on and on. I then had the 128k. Then moved on to the Cpc464. But for me, no one can take away the magic of the 48k, I loved it. I play Gta online every now and then, but the feeling of playing these older games again is magic, and can’t be compared. Great channel. Liked and subbed 👍

@@ClassicReplay I had an Amstrad and my friend next door had a Spectrum. I always played lots of games on the Spectrum at his house. The Spectrum was basic but competed well with the Amstrad. There so many varied games in those days I can hardly remember what it was like to play them. Games like thrust were totally brilliant. Both suffered from taking over 20 mins to load games, waiting for 20 mins to see if they loaded properly and buying brilluant looking games that were actually terrible to play. The Spectrum was out far earlier than than the Amstrad and it was a good computer actually. I have one of each now actually but I haven't set them up in ages because its so difficult and I don't know if they work or if the games are playable at all. I like Feud, Spindizzy, isometric games and the very basic top down adventure games that are hard to find on KZbin, Dan Dare was good, Roland on the Ropes, Outrun and The Last V8. Maybe if I set up the Amstrad I'll find some good games I've forgotten about. Thanks!

@@ClassicReplay Thanks - I'll make sure to check out those two videos. I have read a fair bit about the Amstrad CPC464. Even saw one in the flesh in the 80s (not switched on though sadly). Would you believe Australia currently has Alan Sugar as the boss in our version of The Apprentice? Even though I personally owned both a TI994/A and an Atari XEGS, for the average Joe over here it was either C64, Apple II or later Mac/PC/Amiga.
