Wow, Void is insanely impressive graphically and in terms of narrative. Incredible that the demoscene continues to blow me away 30 years after having a speccy

This is amazing! Who would have thought the classic Speccy could pull these effects off, 37 years later! (release of the 128K).

Imagine the ZX Spectrum 128k launched with a couple of demonstration tapes with these demos, and Travel Through Time: Northern Lights and Castlevania included as games 😂

@@MODERN_RGN Agreed! I always wished Sinclair had done something better than release the 128K machine. Would have been nice to see a bump in all specs.

Mescaline synesthesia. The light effects on the golden skull and the effect that produces new colours like pink, orange or grey are awesome. Music's good too.

Running on emulator or real hardware ? I’m questioning due gigascreen mode don’t have any flickering
@MODERN_RGN2 жыл бұрын
This is emulator recordings, but I also have real hardware. If you have ZX-HD or ZX-VGA-JOY and LCD TV / Monitor everything will look just about the same as in this video. For RGB/RF to CRT Mescaline Synesthesia and Paralactika also works fine if I remember correctly, while Tiratok will have flicker. I don't remember Ultraviolet but the rest will work fine with RGB/RF to CRT. About Gigascreen mode: If you have ZX-HD or ZX-VGA-JOY + DivMMC / DivIDE and Bob Fossil's file browser you will have an IMG-player, and can then easily see all the Gigascreen art pictures as slideshow without any flicker.

@@MODERN_RGN understood need have deinterlace circuit similar some board for Amiga 2000. I questioned to figure if you have used a modern Zx Spectrum clone. For your information some lcd monitor can deinterlace automatically the composite signal, see here the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/npy9f32qmpeZkK8

Very cool monitor, then the ZX-VGA-JOY is not necessary. I just checked on real hardware (an original 128k toastrack) and Outerloop (start screen), Mescaline Synesthesia, Paralactika, Ultraviolet (end pictures) and Tiratok will all have some flicker on RGB/RF to CRT, while they will look as in this video on ZX-HD or ZX-VGA-JOY to LCD TV / Monitor ...or with the monitor in your video.
@kevinmarriott86982 жыл бұрын
47:05 - how is this possible? Interlaced??
@JohnJTraston2 жыл бұрын
It's probably running on emulator with antiflic on. It's flickering at least 2 or most likely 3 different (r, g, b) frames in reality.
@MODERN_RGN2 жыл бұрын
If you have ZX-HD or ZX-VGA-JOY and LCD TV / Monitor it will look the same as in this video. For the old RF/RGB output there will be some flickering.

Most had tape recorder back in the days, but +3 disk and Disciple / +D disk interfaces also became quite popular. Today it is DivMMC / DivIDE devices or just a ZX Spectrum emulator for the PC.
