Four minutes, thirty-three seconds. That's how experimental composer John Cage called his three-movement composition. A true magnum opus which have started entire noise genre.
Original score is lost years ago. But it's not a problem. Why? Read below.
It's the greatest piece of music ever because of two things:
1) It can be played on any instrument or combination of instruments. Or no instrument at all.
2) It can be played by almost any person(s). Or no persons at all.
It contains just 0 (zero) notes. It just consists of pauses.
As far as I'm concerned this the first performance of a 4'33" by a computer.
I used ZX Spectrum legendary home computer from the 80th. And you can imagine that music is played by beeper or AY musical co-processor. Since silence always sounds the same.
Enjoy it, because this is a true classical piece. But stay away from crappy pop song called "A A A A A Very Good Song" if you have any taste left!
I encourage you to use your favorite computer to do the same if you can. So it will be a real Black Swan event.
Or you can use this video as a precise stopwatch timer while performing on instrument of your choice.
Together with Duchamp's "Fountain" sculpture (lost too) and "Black Square" painting by Kazimir Malevich, 4'33" is a true masterpiece that every educated person should know about.
