from begining to end a 3 day project over the period of 8 days on and off due to the cold i ported over gen 2 fairings onto the gen 1 body. its almost exactly the same. no major spacing issues either. This was to answer the questions if it could be done. it is perfect with the tank faring and belly being exact matches.
share with others wanting to do this project. just alot of labor on the nose faring since these weren't oem. you might have to cut a hole in there to get the mirrors deep enough to screw in.

turns our some of the swaps are direct and some arent' to be safe i need to update the tutorial to also get the gen 2 resovoir or it will be tight.

You have to swap it with the gen 2 reservoir.

I'm in the process of doing this project. It's NOT a plug and play project if you want to do it right. You might be able to stress the plastic and have several important bolting locations missing... I doubt the plastic will hold up very long if you just slap the newer plastic on. I hope to do a more detailed video of what brackets you will have to fabricate. Also the 06-2012 overflow coolant tank interferes with the 2013 fairings. I bought a used 2016 coolant reservoir . It has the clearance you will need. I don't recommend attempting this if your not able to fabricate brackets and/or you're not mechanically inclined. You will need to start with the upper front nose cowlings and work back/down. That was the only part that was a direct bolt on for me. I'm not worried about the rear plastics yet. I wanted to tackle the toughest part of the project 1st.

The sides of the middle fairings are mote open to release heat. Hence why they redesigned it for gen 2.

Although I own a Gen.2 ZX-14R, I don't think the Gen1 looked so bad that a conversion is necessary. Gen1 doesn't have the useless slipper clutch, A.B.S., engine nanny,less weight.

the only reason i fully converted it because at first i only wanted the mid farings slashes. but to use them on my gen 1 plastics I had to cut the grooves in wish i didnt want to do. so once i saw that i had to do everything cause of the nose faring. I loved the gen 1 look since it looked like my zx10r. going to miss the gen 1 body

it will but you have to take the speedo cluster, and full wire harness with it cause of the ecu. if you have abs it will be labor. non abs should be easier. i forgot where but there is a sensor you have to clear space for in the gen 1 frame to fit perfect. but it will all work on a swap. but its easier to get a gan2.
