In this video, we will look at how we can install and configure software update point role on System Center Configuration Manager(SCCM) in detail. Also, we will check the required configuration for Window Server Update Services (WSUS).

Hello, question. Can you run a Software Update Point independent from a standalone primary site server? Do you have to create a secondary site to run an Independent Software Update Point?

Yes you can, don’t need secondary site for that.

Not sure you will see this but I have followed your guides to a T but for some reason my WSUS sync is failing: An HTTP error occurred. I currently do not have internet connection but see that you do in your video at this point. I’ve gone over your videos a few times and don’t see where that came in. Please help!

Attach a default switch to your ConfigMgr server and it should resolve the Internet connectivity. I can double check where the Internet part came into action.

@@TekNexSolutions Ah, just as you did when you wanted to pull down updates for the servers and PC-01? I do have the default switches connected but disabled as you instructed to do so in an earlier video. Is the solution just to simply reenable the default switches?

Microsoft stopped developing Certifications on SCCM. You could go for MD-100 and MD-101. These certs include admin skills which can be utilized towards managing users and devices. Microsoft is moving towards Microsoft 365 certifications. There is another exam which you can check is MS-101. It is focused on Intune and azure cloud security aspects.

Thanks for the video but I am a bit confused on the section where you went into the initial setup wizard for WSUS and went through half the setup and then exited. It displayed a pop-up saying that all settings you just entered will be lost, so I am not sure the point of going halfway through the wizard?

You're welcome. To avoid this confusion, I should have mentioned it in the video. You have to go through at least some steps ahead to actually initialize WSUS. Otherwise it would not load. Basically you can cancel on the first rn second step as well. It will not remember the changes you made as you pointed out, however, WSUS will initialize itself. Jay

Hello Sir, supposed we deploy patches around on 10 machine and out of 10 only 7 machines has deployed the patches successfully but remaining 3 machine got stuck in to the rebooting page so in this scenario which process you follow and how to troubleshoot.

When you say machine got stuck on rebooting, you mean the device successfully restarted but stuck on the restart screen?

Hi Kuljit, This is something I have not done myself. You can upgrade according to MS documentation. Check here bit.ly/3sDlOnq. Ensure your server meets software prerequisites. For example, supported version of SQL Server.

Hi , I have issues with SUP and WSUS. SUP sync status has been showing error. Whenever i open WSUS console, it tries loading but fails with connection error and after i reset the server node it reloads but fails again. On wcm log i see the following error : setting subscription failed: server is currently busy synchronizing updates. and on wsychmgr.log : sync failed wsus server not configured. please refer to wcm.log for configuration error details. Please suggest

@@TekNexSolutions I reinstalled the SUP, WSUS and the sync has restarted from the start. May be it was the issue of WSUS and its catalog. we had not run the maintenance task till now. I am not familiar with wsus maintenance task. would u please suggest me on this? or do you already have a tutorial on this ? if not please create one!
