It's so funny to see how QC and UT are such polar opposites. QC has the gameplay design already well fleshed out but is full of bugs. In UT we don't even know what we're trying to develop, but it doesn't have bugs and netcode is pretty good.

Speaking of UT, the power cooldown pickups remind me of UT2k3 and UT2k4 adrenaline pickups. Then I remember people bickering about adrenaline abilities and how they don't want it in the new UT.

Alternatively, I miss the wall running and bouncing off the walls (Nyx can but it doesn't feel same) and flying off lifts to do unique moves. Rocket jumping and bunny hopping are fun too though.

UT movement is by design. Strafe jumping is an accident. ;) Personally, I hate movement in Quake in general, because you can't move on stairs and the floor feels like ice. With the wonky movement in UT you might not be able to fly through the map at mach 3, but it makes the fights faster paced instead, because of the high-accel movement. In Quake, once you get into a fight, you have to commit, because trying to escape gets you killed. btw. it's not really comparable with adrenaline, mostly because you needed to pick up waaaaay too much adrenaline in UT2k4. Or alternatively, you killed people to gain it, making it more like a killstreak reward.

The shotgun dose more damage than the rail (zoomed) Althou i see you point. I think the bad net code combined with high ping Screwed him over. Point is do not exlude it. It is one of the best guns in the game.

I'll just throw this out there - Back when I used to play Quake 2 FFA, I remember leading the game mostly because of adapting to each situation. I never picked up Quad and barely had armour. I used to assess each situation, and interrupt players who are having a duel and pick on the one I feel is weaker. This helped me gain frags very quickly. It was never about taking on players 1v1 because doing so is like a street fight. You can never predict who's going to pounce on you from behind. So picking up Quad and beefing up your armour doesn't always work when you're racing for frags. Quad is a target magnet and having 2 or 3 ppl gang up on you will diminish your armour in seconds. It's smarter to use Quad as bait and target its spawn area from a distance and fish for frags. I've always felt FFA is all about playing really 'FAST' and moving in and out of situations, picking out opponents without engaging entirely. Let others do the work of depleting health and just be around to take the kill. Weapon switching is also KEY. I'm not that good at duel matches comparatively but always had an explosive frag rate in FFA matches. Crazy bit is my death count is among the highest but that doesn't matter as long as you can assess situations as second nature and bump up your frag count really really quickly. Just my two cents :)

I've been playing quake for 9 years, played the beta a month or so ago and couldn't get used to how rockets aren't instantaneous. It feels like you shoot but the rocket lingers, or doesn't shoot immediately. I'm so used to quake 3 and live that it honestly confused the hell out of me. Only weapon I had issues with, and it's by far the most rewarding.

Did they slow down the rocket projectile's velocity with this recent patch? Also, are people able to purchase cosmetics etc. yet? A couple of years ago I actually got to face fatal1ty while casually playing QL TDM. He was at full health/armor all the time and despite of everyone doing everything in their power to kill him he easily came out on top every single match. how do you swap weapons so fast? i.e for railgun followup shots? my ping in beta has always been sub 50 but my weapon swaps are super slow, literally taking 1-2 seconds...

It's based on reload times... if you shoot, the weapon has to reload before you can switch. So generally you run around with a weapon that reloads quickly (machine gun, lightning gun and nailgun are the fastest, then rocket) shoot with them first, then switch. Shotgun and railgun are the slowest.

Good match but I usually get to play this kind of guys in EU servers especially after midnight there are really good guys with great aims who puts up great matches especially in TDM plays. However I'm victim of lag spikes so I don't get to enjoy this kind of fluid games at all. Hopefully developers fix the netcode so people with poor internet connection also get to enjoy this great game. I mean they have to because they are aiming for free to play players so the netcode shouldn't be this demanding at all.

Why Zy? Why no against pros? You are very good and they are new to quake champions, I saw them play only cypher and maybe a few like agent excel above the rest in duel. Zoot, Cooler, Rapha, and Zero4 along with a couple others hover on about the same level in relation to each other in duels. Since you have good strategy you should be able to outplay many of them at least on a 50/50 basis or more, I noticed even the pro pros made mistakes that let them down heavily, you just gotta use Tricks and M0ves along with clever use of the abilities and you can beat aim heavy players by outsmartification. That's why Agent almost always wins his duels, tricks and strategies, and his aim isn't even that good in comparison to many pros who he plays. Have fun Zy! I hope to see more duels in the future!

I noticed it as well. In slowmo it looks like you didn't make a mistake. Seems like your position on the server was lagging behind, causing the rocket to be fired some a different position than you were seeing locally.

The beta isn't in a good state right now, they're maxing out the connection with debug info and stuff... have to wait for it to be smoother and less laggy. No one is playing at their proper level just yet. But it's fun and I'd rather play than not, so it's all good.

Reydriel I don't believe so. I play with 800dpi 1.3 sens on csgo for an effective dpi of 1040. I play with a bit higher sens on quake because of the fast nature of the game. Playing too low sens requires way too much hand movement. I think I just try to look at too many angles at any given time trying to avoid getting caught off guard.

Many Quake players play with low sens. I don't know what yours translates to, but Zy moves the mouse about 30cm (1ft) to do a 360 turn. Some pros play with even lower sens.

If you loose 30 to 35 with a pro it means, you are on a pro lvl aswell. It's a very little marigin. Of course, there are better and weaker players even on a professional level, but this is by no means a league difference.
