As an owner of a Ferrari Specialè, I love taking my NC on the track, its such a hilarious car and so much fun. Ive got cams, throttle bodies, CAE shifter, GT1 suspension, the thing is such a blast. I love the steering on these too! I have an ND as well, but I always choose the NC.

A next level upgrade is a 2.5 litre swap (without cams). The low end torque is so additive. Add a full Roadstersport 2.5 inch exhaust, HDR coil overs and wider rims/tires, in my case 225/45-17's, and you have a little beast. All in, $12,000 Canadian (with labour) upgrades! Super fun.

Interesting, I thought the increased induction sound in NC2 is from the intake sound tube which routes from the airbox into the drivers sidewall (you can see it - the black plastic tube on the right side around 50 seconds in). I have a stock NC2.5, no cams and have the same great intake sound. The sound tube is added for nc2 and nc2.5 generations. It’s not a speaker - actually conveys the sound/vibration to the cabin.

Was the first guy's girlfriend around when you asked for total price with mods??? $4k of seats alone. Clean NC2 is $16k. So no way engine mods, suspension, exhaust, wheels, tires, brakes etc. were $5k. Prob getting closer to $30k with that list, which is a lot for a Miata.

Will be primarily a public road weapon, although I'd love to dabble in track sometime, so I might not get as serious as you on the suspension. How do the Xida’s compare to the MiesterR GT1s from the video when you compared all 4 generations? Similar dampening technology but the Xida have more travel. Also $3000 vs $2000.
@ZygreneАй бұрын
@@jjchockey I thought about this exact question recently. Would need to drive them on the same road. Both were very impressive.
@styledlivingАй бұрын
@@jjchockey i have a friend that went w ohlins originally. but when he went to xidas, it was night and day different on the street because of the additional travel in both downtravel and droop. i suppose it’s less of an issue if you only track your car, but on poorly maintained canyon roads, it could be the difference between a blown out disc in your back and having a few extra years of canyon runs to look forward to. damping technology hasn’t changed much over the years, but the techniques at providing better damping as well as suspension system consistency have gotten cheaper. because of that there are some boutique brands that will customize your setup and maximize the one way setup. check out annex suspension for one. they use a combination of taiwanese parts like most of the other budget brands, but they also will listen to your track needs, consider motion ratio constraints of your platform and help you eek out the best compromise between ride and handling precision.
@jjchockeyАй бұрын
@ I had Miester R CRDs on an NB2 and now have XIDA on an NA8. The CRDs high speed dampening is quite similar to the Xida I found but the low speed dampening on the Xida is wayyyy more aggressive. I’m considering moving to an NC and was wondering how the GT1s would feel compared to those.

@@jjchockeythose GT1s are not good at taking bumps on track. Only thing they are good at is marketing. They aren’t bad on smooth roads though for the price point.
@jjchockeyАй бұрын
@you just said they are good at taking bumps for the price and they suck at taking bumps in the same sentence. Which one is it? I don’t know of any other $2000 coilovers that utilize a double digressive larger diameter piston so I feel like they should be quite good for the price. Not Xida level but not far off for $1000 less. I don’t have experience with the GT1s but the CRDs were better than the other $1000 Coilovers I’ve driven on the Miata.
