Did you see the snap oversteer at 3.28. Thats what killed the nd1 and 2. The nd3 had fixed that problem and its a big and almost deadly problem. Now the nd3 could be the best sports car ever made. Finally

Subaru blew it again. Anyone who bought a TR got screwed as now the better tS model is coming for 2025 with the STi tuned adaptive dampers. Unfortunately it also comes with way too much baby blue accents on the dash, doors and seats. No one over the age of 30 will like that interior, hence a no buy for me. And at the price they’re selling it for a GR Corolla or VW Golf R represent much better values with far better performance than the 271 HP WRX can muster with the fuel economy of a V8 pickup truck.

Notice how you could row through those gears at 19 min mark. All be warned, manual ferrari's of that period are built tight and need some heat in them.

And modena is very easy to drive quickly, i think the power steering, unfamiliarity w geaebox ( they shiftvsmooth ss butter one familiar,) and the fact that you just hopped out of a much less powerful car may have gave you slightly neg view of modena. I drove a modena -black on black manual for two months, and after two weeks i was in love. Were u warming these cars/tires up,?

Firstly great comparo. I think you were pretty spot on. As a pretty seasoned Street car Ferrari driver I knoticed you picked up on the heavy brakes right away, they do this bc the mid engine V8 cars really rotate during braking, take out long term reliability the two engines are apples and oranges ( ive driven a U S. Spec NSX-Full boltons a lot) just for comparison. It might have been helpful to drive them in reverse order. All manual ferraris dont shift smooth the first 30 minutes, all have heavy brakes and all v8's 308'- modetna have heavy trail braking/mid engine neutrality, which was neutered a lil in the NSX imo. I think you 80% got it right. That model/trim ferrari interior is junk, nsx way superior for dailying, although modens are notorious good road cars for being ferrari. On a track, with a real tire, the nsx is obv getting smoked. Ferrari purposely kept all the analog /nvh emotion, where the whole thing w NSX WAS mute it while imitating a 355 tuned for less oversteer. But, great vid snd im a biased 328 owner.

I've been working for Porsche for several years back in the late 80ies and early 90ies and I've owned and driven many different models throughout the years, including 500+hp Turbos, etc... The 987.1 Cayman "S" is in my opinion the most fun to drive. Ok, it might be my very own personal, limited driving skills (best I ever made was a #6 in a Porsche Owners Cup race), but this car means just about the right amount of manageability and fun to me. I own too many cars and some of them actually scare me to a degree where I don't really enjoy driving them. The Cayman instead is a car where I can still floor it. work it and get something back from it. It's just a lot of fun!

my question is- how much would it actually cost you to buy better brakes, upgrade the suspension yourself, and get a new driver seat? 10 grand? i doubt it… and if you can genuinely find base WRXs for under msrp and these are going for over? no way i’d buy one. the only thing i really see going for it is the fact that it’s AWD. i can’t really think of another AWD let alone manual track ready car at that price point.

It pains me when people do these reviews and all have the same things to say. As if they just stole talking points from every other video and regurgitated them. TR does not mean tuner ready, it means track ready, which the car obviously delivers. Distinguishing between the two would correct your perspective on the car. There is no more STi, get over it. Watch MotoIQs tear down of the FA24 and you’ll see how much of a better motor it is than the EJs and you’ll see that Subaru intentionally left plenty on the table for this car. Getting it to redline 500 past the manufacture redline RPM is very easily doable and safe. Yeah it doesn’t have STi drivetrain, but tell me where would you have needed it on this track? Seems like the car did everything you wanted it to do straight from factory. Terrible review. Great driving.

The VB owners that have swapped in an STI transmission and differentials are seeing an enormous hit to MPG. Like, >20% worse mileage. That’s why Subaru isn’t making a real STI anymore. Come to think of it, does any new car have full time AWD with 3 LSDs?

Great review. I've grown to like the VB WRX and the TR seems cool, but for $9k more I don't think it's worth it especially if you plan to modify it. That extra $9k on a base WRX can take you farther than what's being offered with the TR. Also, the 6k rev limiter was weird. I wonder if it's a setting.

I owned a Subaru for a short while, nothing but problems, oil leaks, stalling at idle, electric problems. Supra being BMW might not be much better. Honda Type R or Hyundai Elantra N is probably the way to go.

Historically, the STi variant has been priced 7-10K more than the WRX from what I can remember. Offering a NON-STi with STi pricing is almost as stupid as locking the higher trim variant (with the better seats) behind a CVT. I have no idea what these manufacturers are thinking. It's like there's some kind of disconnect internally between all the divisions of some of these companies and they are having to bring products to market while communicating using smoke signals that no one fully understands.

I don't think this trim will sell well at all unfortunately. Most people either want to buy something really sports oriented or on the opposite end of the spectrum the most affordable reliable economy car. Honda already has them beat in that middle of the line category and it doesn't seem like the power is much more than what you'd get from a Civic SI with a few mods, the sound also doesn't redeem itself with uniqueness. It's been said for like three years now that this new body and wheel fenders just aren't attractive to most yet they are still just keeping the design and not giving the major Subaru base what they want. I guess the sales numbers will speak for themselves though. It's still more exciting than a lot of manual sedans and I learned manual on the WRX so it has a small special place in my heart.
@davidzebar6876Күн бұрын
Nah I think it's a much better package than the si. The si is trash with the shit 1.5t that's the worst engine Honda ever made. The WRX has more performance potential and is probably a better daily driver too.

I think the base WRX is a decent value for something AWD, manual and fun. Dealerships by me are selling base and premium trims for $3-4k off sticker but the TRs have dealer mark up. I think it would be a pretty easy decision for me financially if I wanted one.

Good review. The GTR was described as ‘the new yardstick’ by Clarkson in his Top Gear review. Funny how all performance saloons/coupes copy the formula of a turbocharged V-engine/straight six, rear-biased four wheel drive and a dual clutch/auto gearbox. You describe the back end of the GTR losing traction easily- could it be that the tyre pressures at 30psi, was a little too low?🤔

I've got a 2017, 3 door. We didn't really get the 5 door version in the UK. I've had it a couple of years, and had it taken to stage 2, so it's sitting at about 230-245 bhp, and just installed front and rear strut braces. They're great little cars, which is why I've had 4 of them over the years, including the 2 litre ST from the late 2000s. Just wish they were a little more spacious
