OG 2024 feels like a remake of OG 2017. Which obviously it is but I mean like the Final Fantasy or Resident Evil remakes that keep what made the game good and stay faithful to the original but also improve what can be improved. Except for the movement animations. Those should have been reverted.

Allow me to dispel some rumors: - No, us being on UE5 vs. UE4 does not make it impossible to bring back the old graphics or mechanics. There might be a few minor issues, but nothing that's impossible to fix. It would not change the visual style. That's why most UE marketplace assets are forwards compatible, with at most some to no tweaking. - Bringing back old movement animations and tunings would require re-writing the entirety of the player character code, which is not realistically doable. That won't come back. The most they can do is disable the Chapter 3-forward mechanics. - Stuff like the old explosions are possible, but for better performance Epic would probably have to re-create them in Niagara. Not saying it's impossible to bring them back as they are, but Epic would prefer everything to be in Niagara for performance consistency. - The argument that "it's a remaster" holds no water because it's advertised as "The OG OG". The truth is just that this was completed in a relatively short timeframe and EPIC didn't bother with many things and cut corners, and made the business decision to retain consistency with current-day fortnite. So, in other words, unfortunately they marketed "the OG OG" to us, and in reality, gave us consistency with current-day Fortnite, which is not what we've been asking for since late Chapter 1.

- Yes it is practically near impossible to bring the old graphics being on Unreal Engine 5. The camera for the characters worked entirely different back then it wouldn't be impossible to fix but it would certainly cause issues I'm sure of that. They'd have to change a whole bunch of textures, they'd also have to reintroduce old motionblur/blur/bloom/distortion effects/visual effects, and change up the water. They'd not only have to disable a lot of graphics options too, but take out lumen as well. There'd also be lighting leaks like back then too. Anything that has to do with the lighting/graphics cannot be brought back like in the original. People will still have something to complain about. People should just get STW if they want OG shit. - This is correct a lot of people are whining about this for no reason at all. People crying about the animations being ugly and weird don't know anything about animation. The older ones were a lot uglier and more cartoony which wouldn't fit at all. - Yes this is possible since the explosions are just animated I'm pretty sure. - While it is said as the true OG they can't make it be TRULY OG because of the battlepasses, the players being more skilled, and more. I prefer this version of the chapter one map honestly. I know that it'll look 10x better than the older graphics version once it reaches around season 8 - 9 with the map being more colorful. I really think that they shouldn't bring back the OG graphics because during or even past season 4 chapter 1 that's when the graphics entirely started to change. There was less motion blur / blur in general and less lens distortion effects along with the lighting being changed (Or maybe it was just the bloom).

I played the og map after 7 years just yesterday and oh maan the memories.... Played with a friend, got 2 wins and had tons of fun. There was a moment in a game where one guy was hidden in a bush right next to us - probably stalking and waiting for the perfect moment - and i am like "Yo this guy here must be afk" and for some reason that guy was inside a bush which my game did not show for some reason and my friend was like "Maaaannn he was inside the bush what do you mean he was afk?!" And i am like "Man i swear to god there is no bush here for me hahaha" Anyways we killed that guy and that was a perfect example of the old og memories. And that's what is awsome about the og fortnite. Not many guns , no cars, no airplanes, no overpowered things. Just you and your friends looting, running from the storm and shoot others.

Some context for the swing not swinging is because back in the og days if you stood on a swinging chair the game would permanently ban you thinking your were using a fly hack so in season 3 they fixed it by making the swings no longer swing. I remember back then even tho they swung nobody ever risked touching them because they were petrified of getting banned.

Sounds then were more straight to the point and defined which made them sound more realistic and real, now they feel way to optimised and not as defined making the game feel unrealistic in my oppinion. Back then you were more locked into the gameplay because of the defined soundeffects

the swings were removed due to sometimes crashing whole lobbies, ppl used to get banned at one point

If I remember correctly, people were banned for "flying" as the anticheat wasn't programmed for the swing physics and it would see it as flying
