So I’ve been struggling with streaming, speed, and overall finger control for a while now. I remember at a time I would watch tons of videos like this one to help me improve but I didn’t really get anything more than marginal improvements out of them. It just always seemed like I had no dexterity in my left hand (my tapping hand). That’s when I realized that having no dexterity with my left hand was my biggest problem. So I started trying to actively use my left hand more for my daily activities, like for example brushing my teeth with my left hand, using kitchen utensils with my left hand, and I even started practicing to write with my left hand. Doing this has helped me so much more than any tutorial has helped me, and the more I practice building my dexterity with my left hand outside of osu!, the more responsive my fingers feel when I’m tapping or streaming ingame. I don’t see this advice in any osu! improvement videos, but I feel like actively trying to build up your dexterity with your tapping hand can make a huge difference in what you can achieve. I hope this advice helps!

This makes so much sense!! I have this same issue and I had this idea that I haven't used my left hand as much, so it makes sense for it to be worse and less dextrous. However, I couldn't figure out a solution/progression structure to work on it. I'm for sure going to try this.

These tips dont just apply to osu! but to almost anything you do in any rhythm game you might play. I especially liked the play harder charts and get outside of your comfort zone cause that’s exactly what I do to improve. You gotta start somewhere and even if it’s bad the experience will only make you better as your eyes, mind and body adapt. These tips are straight forward and honestly what anyone needs to improve with any skill set. Most importantly though the best way to improve is to just play the game and your experience will help you grow. Keep up the amazing work Zylice

Can definitely relate to improvement coming naturally with what you enjoy, I may not have speed or stream consistency, but I'm rather good at alt and half decent at tech, not due to any sort of deliberate practice, I just find alt and tech maps to be heaps of fun to play.

I completely agree with tip 1, and I think people are being taught pushing outside of what they can currently do is bad. However, I would add to it and say practicing far UNDER your current skill level and also right at is also equally important. We all know those people who gravitate towards HDDT early and then can never FC a 2* or low ar map (couldn't be me lmfao). And of course practicing maps right at your range gives you practice with consistency, but also helps shift your focus back towards maintaining high accuracy and the proper tapping technique. You mentioned that some days you just can't tap as fast or you feel out of control and your skill level for that day goes down, which is why I've started implementing more easy maps into my practice even on good days, it seems to have helped keep me consistently faster with less fumbling. All still good information though! Just figured I'd throw in a few things

i played osu for about 3 years trying to improve but at the cost of mental and physical health I played to often and to frequent to sustain the skill I gained and due to this I quit for about 5 years came back to the game and because I did not focus on health first it caused me to get worse and lose my skill so growing at a healthy rate and making sure that your health comes first is better than grinding 18 hours a day and having your body and mind detererate and lose everything you worked for great vid you really explained how health is more important because if you don't focus on your health than you lose everything your health and skill

I feel like having a good warmup is very very helpful as well easing urself into the higher bpms from the lower. As u said in the vid some days u just feel slower and when I have those days having a longer warmup really helps to let my fingers get settled to higher bpms and get rid of the slow feeling. Also warmup will also help prevent injury so u can play more without breaking ur hands

Something weird happened to me I started playing this game 3 days ago, I thought I fractured my hand and as soon as it felt better I was able to fully S combo normal maps, without being said I’m able to A rank Hard maps right now and my hand doesn’t hurt it’s probably cause my hand wasn’t adapting but I’m very happy I never gave up cause I kept playing with my hand hurting and I found comfortable posture doing so and now I feel so good about the improvement

I remember back then like 6 or 7 years ago, i had friends to play osu with but they were way better (im stuck at 5* max) they could clear 7* maps and were mocking people with -95% acc. Back then i had like 80% but i was still proud of myself, but being mocked like that over and over i started to care about my accuracy and now it's hard for me to never quit a map i failed even once... Guess i'll just have to relearn the whole game, that first advise of yours epecially is made for me

I actually agree to what your saying, osu! is a mental game as long as you believe in yourself you can go far but also find the right practice balance. Now I usually play a lot of stream/stamina maps and I have almost infinite stamina on 170-180 so now I'm improving my DT skills and aim control since I'm a nm player and it will come in handy when I try to get to 4 digit. Also I was in a Zylice video :D

2:38 this seems like a "well duh" tip but its actually the one that will affect your play the most. I recently went through a major depressive episode and tried to play osu to get my mind off things, I literally could not play the game, in any capacity. Everything was a D rank. Obviously not everyone is going through something that serious but small things like, not feeling well that day, or feeling mentally off will affect your play and is probably the reason why even though you can stream 220 you're only streaming 180 that day or things like that.
@killomtry3711

Well this video is not only about speed. For example change technique to grip and you got aim guide. This game is more of mind game. If you think you cant improve you wont and if you think speed is hard it will be. I learned it while playing on different setup offline i thought aim will be hard with reading cuz i was playing on laptop and it was until i thought why is it hard if i play the same game.

As a HD main player I always enjoyed to try and push for more and more speed/stamina (since I suck at streams and I want to improve that by adjusting my fingers for fast tapping with a combination of bursts/spaced streams). I have so many 4* C ranks and quite a lot higher ranks on 3* maps with DTHD / DTHRHD which by playing a decent amount every day just help me improve slow and steady. Currently I am working towards trying to pass the 3* diff of Necro Fantasia with HDDT which I can do majority of it but I get some mindblock towards the end which kills every rune (usually around 10-s15s before the end of the map). Majority of the highest pp plays on my account are mainly 3 mod which I have managed to beat overtime by improving my speed/stamina/finger control. Important advice I haven't seen people give is to play with your aiming hand as relaxed as you can. By doing that you are not gonna get mindblocked and miss-aim once and your whole run would be aver. By learning this crucial skill I have even managed to pass the 5* diff of Bison charge (1 min 45 s of 243 bpm bursts/jumps). I have managed to do this by not stressing my hand as much if I ever missed and just kept going with the map (I will now use this as a test from time to time to see how much I will improve).

It's hard to explain how to get better in osu!, because everyone has different way, and they experience different things, so one type of played can't really teach how to become good if the other person watching the video is different type. You may want to play speed and dt, but you're only able to do different skill set, and you need to find the one you're good at, then you can start improving. Because no one is good in everything (except few people you know), you won't get better in speed if you just don't have the reflexes and you don't have the potential. Of course you can try, but for me it's better for find a skill set you're good at already, and try to make it better. Then focus on the hard ones, since you won't get better before you won't understand how the game and rhym works
@voidparadox488
@voidparadox488 2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree on the not skipping maps you can't play point. Personally I'm a 35k player and I've been inconsistent for a long time now, but I've managed to pass the 7* Flamewall with a 83% after playing it with NF for a couple of weeks on a daily basis. In my point of view, non-passable maps go through 3 phases: Passing with NF, Passing without NF and improving accuracy then finally FCing. Consistency turns into a habit, and a habit pays off eventually.

i have been doing a 30 day challenge of using index and ring (was inspired by spazza) and i agree with alot of these topics. i have been unable to play burst triples higher than 200 bpm but in exchange, i have been developing good techniques on stamina and my HR skill has been awakened and slowly getting better. i really want to thank the variety of songs that i have enjoyed when i was trying to improve as that gave me the motivation.

@@aterasdf so a bit of a backstory as a player, I have been playing on my acc for about 10 years ish with a bout 3 years on and off due to bad mental and not able to improve, been using index and middle the whole time too. To answer your question, I would say that I have been improving aloy in multiple areas but the one thing I struggle is actually finger control , more specifically anything that is 200 BPM or higher. I either lose my fingers in the process of tapping or my stamina gives way and I immediately drop. Compared to when I used index and middle, I could last much longer

Another good tip that I think is learning how to play hard rock or any map that's AR 10, most maps(even 4 stars) are AR 9ish and when you use DT it'll increase the AR(duh). If you learn to read AR 10 you'll have easier time reading DT.

i tried this method, push my self on hard maps and keep trying it, but for me didnt work. The way i found that really helped me is to practice not playing. For example, your gonna watch a video (1st yomi yori fc, for example) and youre gonna play as well, but you have to try and push your self. The proof that this method worked on me is my playcount. January, february, march and april, i played just a little bit, and comparing to november and december (the time i was trying the obvious method) that i played more, was more effective. And another thing is that stream on your desk consumes more stamina than on your keyboard *this is my opinion*

0:47 alright. and there is me, only playing C maps up until its atleast at B at some point haha playing in my comfort zone? bro. that is something i hate xD furthermore, very good advice in this video. posture, kinds of pain (what is good what is bad), playing slower maps if it feels like, u can't go faster at this very moment. everything i do for over a year. nice to see confirmation, that it works. for me personally, i see a lot of improvement in my play. but i am really not the fastest or overall a very good player i think. facts about me: i am 29 y/o. discovered osu! like 2 years ago (and i really love beatgames. somehow never heard of osu! xD). highest map i C'ed is now "Namae no Nai Kaibutsu" by EGOIST // gazimal on difficulty "Encounter" (over 6 star map). so i mostly play 5,5 stars and above maps. i also like very much extreme metal and "Utsu-P" stuff. played a lot "Mikkusabbath" as an example still would love to play 7+ maps. cuz A LOT of maps where i love the music from, is just playable at this point sadly. so yeah. i think, this video is perfect for every1 who wants to improve at osu!

It's definitely really easy to overcomplicate it. For me I feel like have several different speeds where I have various levels of finger control and stamina from bursts to death streams and for me playing maps across as much of that range as possible allows me to improve best. I'd explain it like that too if I was for some reason asked, even though at the end of the day you're right in that you just kind of need to get your fingers moving at high speeds and improve your scores from there.

You can still do it as Lifeline has shown. However learning to alt would be more efficient than forcing yourself to single tap 300BPM jumps

the coming out of your comfort zone is too close to home, im a singletapper dt player and i never really bothered to try play anything over 240 250bpm. Now i thought fuck it lets try, failed at first but quite quickly managed to improve and i can singletap up to 300bpm 6star dt farm

I'm only a speed player because I'm from Canada, Manitoba (Where Merami lives). One day I just was able to stream 220bpm without ever practicing high bpm. It was like a switch being flipped

Good video. I just have one thing to say about it, in the first like 2 min he says to put +nf on. Which is okay, but have the map is way to hard for you to even consider try to pass it, it would just controdict what you are trying to do to improve. And yeah is prop* good for you to try "harder thing for you" but just consider try to PASS those harder song. Improvement is by pushing your bind* not by play thing that is unresonably hard, and I know he also say that in the video. But I just wanna point that out, just try to you hardest. Do not just try, just to try. Sorry for my bad english, have a good day/night if you are readin' this. o7
