I say its more difficult to play with range and power which is why I give more credence to the band who is able to play with power whilst still sounding good IE Southern.

@@TheAmazonReviewer1 i 100% agree with you. I was at PV Back in 06 and 07 and we used to be cleaner and more musical when Prof Edwards was the director. I think PV is clearly louder but they have lost some of their musicality. GSU definitely sounds more musical and mature from what I remember, but not as loud as PV back then or in this clip

Honestly, These 5th qtr battle comments are 95% full of homers who feel like their school's band murdered the other and have very little to no objectivity. Both bands had great moments in this 5th and also both bands have things that didn't go so well musically. Truthfully, they were both evenly matched and both did a good job overall.

I enjoyed the battle from both ends , this new Grambling is definitely starting to grow on me. The song selection has been fire lately and they have a little more bite to them now. PV wasn't bad either but they Trumpets held them back on a few songs, I didn't kno what the hell they was doin. Callem up ehh not really a fan of the arrangement. But anyways good 5th.

I love Pv and this one was hard to call but Grambling by the landside was cleaner and I ain't being bias. Now Pv had the better show and the better book I was there but in this fifth I'ma give Gsu the slight edge. It was evenly matched though both was cranking. Oan Pv owned Murder on my mind this year! I heard them walking out the fair smooth and clean.

Grambling that No weakness will carry well in the fifths that arrangement is nice. Old school classics like tenderoni went well. PV that call him up needs Sped up or played in another key but that Rihanna song wasnt ready those two songs will carry well if worked on. Just expected more from both after hearing both at the beginning of the season

PV Marching Storm alum... Really impressed with GSU. They sound like a band. PV is PV. As long as we don't "fall off" like a few bands have done over the years, I'm good with that. I'm not gonna say who won because it really doesn't matter. It's all opinion. I will say though that this battle started off strong then fizzled out as it went on.

I’ll be completely fair and say Grambling has definitely made a major comeback with their Band program. I’m excited to see more but to say that they won this 5th quarter is definitely a push. PV definitely won this mainly because of their sound. This has to be my least favorite performance by them so far tho. I feel like they were far too relaxed and underestimated Grambling. Although it’s a win for them I think they need to take every Band in the SWAC serious.

Aaron Buggs I went to the state fair the last 3 years. GSU hasn’t showed up either time other than this year. GSU has always been a power house however, they haven’t been at their best the past few band seasons and I’m sure many others will agree.
