This is definitely one of their more radio friendly albums. The 70s albums are more bluesy and raw. You guys tend to like the raw 70s metal and southern rock more, so I'm sure you'd get into "Waiting on the Bus and Jesus Just Left Chicago", those 2 are really 1 song, so you gotta play them together. ZZTop are masters of the bluesey rock that they do.. WITHOUT being the fastest or most complex. Its the soul behind the vast majority of what they do. Like listening to Santana. He is an amazing guitarist.. but not because he is so fast.. but because he feels it. ZZTop feel the groove and theme for the most part. They always have music from almost every album that is just a great tune. That magical ingredient.. they have it.

Jimi Hendrix loved Billy Gibbons who was a guitarist to be reckoned with long before he grew that epic beard. In early 1968, his psychedelic garage band, the Moving Sidewalks, opened four Texas shows for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. According to local acidrock lore, Hendrix was so impressed by Gibbons' facility and firepower that he gave the young guitarist a pink Stratocaster as a gift.

Fun fact: Before they started ZZ Top, they were a band who was hired to pretend to be The Zombies after they broke up, so people would think they were still together.

They sound in the 20's like they did in the 70's only better. I am amazed all the time that the music I grew up with is still being played on FM radio. LONG LIVE ROCK

I guess I'll just keep recommending Opeth - Serenity Painted Death (or Harlequin Forest) until y'all decide to do it lol. Here are some others: • Death - Trapped in a Corner, Symbolic • Cynic - Veil of Maya • Gorguts - An Ocean of Wisdom, Absconders • Vektor - Recharging the Void • Between the Buried and Me - White Walls, Obfuscation, All Bodies, Alaska • Leprous - Contaminate Me (ft. Ihsahn) • Ihsahn - Unhealer (ft. Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth) • Enslaved - Singular, Night Sight, Havenless • Nevermore - Narcosynthesis, The River Dragon Has Come, The Fault of the Flesh • Fates Warning - Point of View • Control Denied - What if...?; Cut Down (side project of Death's frontman, Chuck Schuldiner. This may be more to your liking. Basically Death but with power metal vocals.) • The Dillinger Escape Plan - Milk Lizard, Limerent Death

Great reaction guys!!! I hope you guys bring back the tournaments!! Those were so fun and enjoyable and honestly you guys gave me a sort of appreciation for Country that I never thought I'd ever appreciate, it's the poppy stuff that I can't stand lol, a Hip Hop tournament would be cool with golden era or newer Underground artists or a Griselda tournament would be cool!! Side note if you guys ever did a podcast like where you guys just chill and talk about music news, pop culture and social issues, that would be game changing! Much love from Canada, you guys always brighten my day!

They grew up down the Road from me. Met Billy at a Papasitoes Tex Mex restaurant back around 88' here in Houston. Long story short he signed my After Burner(album after this one) cassette tape and brought it back to our table and talked to my friends and I for about 10min. Real down to earth guy. Jimi Hendrix loved Billy and his guitar playing. They opened for him for 4 shows when they first came out.

I needle dropped at 7:30 -7:49 a thousand times in the 80' totally blown away by the smooth and hip transition they pulled off. To watch you guys appreciate that same part of this song the way I did - stop and back it up again made me laugh out loud at just how much "Hip and cool" transcends not only time but across cultures. Never thought Id see a reaction like mine to the same part in anyone. Fun ride guys.
