Bye Dusty "We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. As I have heard others say for some time now, there comes an age (turning 52 next week) when your music icons are going to reach the end of the tour. The initial response is often "so sad, no more new songs", but it should be thanks for all of the songs, concerts and memories, in my aging opinion. Be at peace Dusty and thanks for the memories.

The "Live from Texas" DVD from the '08 tour (they had the Stray Cats opening with Pretenders second on the bill) is probably the best rendition available, polished like a freshly-detailed "ZZmobile" . They were opening with "Got Me Under Pressure" that time, the same sequence is on the "Double Down Live" 2-dvd set that has them live from 1980 too. I have both sets, they are worth having. I'm dreaming that they team up with some other "Godfathers of Rock" and do some big shows this summer. I would travel to Texas for that if the stupid government in Cali won't let anybody play.

Seen them 5 times in 46 years. When you see them do that little coreography shuffle it is so much like the old Motown acts. Great work.

As a kid, 15 , I learned all the songs on my bass. That was 1977. Taught me a lot. I became an accomplished bassist. I owe gratitude. The dude was the "Bottom". Simple, and the core of good bass work. Anyone here with know how gets it. The dude stayed simple and BOTTOM. We owe a lot for him not trying to be Chris Squire. I learned a lot at a very young age that paid off so many years later. These guys are a class act. Thank you, Dusty. Flame on man.
