Born back in 42, I've watched music evolve for a long long time. Various artist have come and gone. Some still haning in and the mustic has gotten better and better. Unfortunately what passes for music now days is so commercial that it has no soul and the language is not worth listening to. Yet some still rise to the top.

NURT52.

I saw Top on the El Loco tour way back in 1981!! This was the song that got all the radio air play off that album. But Top was great live!! They played a fantastic show that night!!

Considering I was born in 1942 I grew up hearing The Big Bands and a lot of blues late at night on radio. We moved a lot back then as my dad worked the shipyards and oilfield. a radio was a big deal back then and I learned how to set up a long wire antenna to pull in distant stations. When I was stationed in the UK I found more blues bands that you could imigine. Amerian sailors brough over records from the states and sold them to the Brits who love blues.

Man you saw some of the greats!! I dig Blues also. I couldn't do the Disco scene though, but as I get older and hear this stuff they pass for music now, some of the disco songs were good. I do have some in my collection I have to admit. Today you have to have a spacific sound. To me it all sounds the same. Back then you had to have a unique sound to make it. IMO producers are the major cause of this stuff that's released.

I'm 70, "back in the day" saw the Doors, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and many other while stationed in England and oversea through out Asia and Europe. May sound hokey to many but back then you could feel the beat, understand the words and they did not have to resort to profanity and nudity to promote good hard driving music. From Boogie, Blues, Rock and even classical. Hate to admit it but even enjoyed the Disco era with great rhythm. Unfortunately no musical ability. Forgot to spell ck

Was refering to todays music not ZZ. At 52 I doubt if I lean toward rap man. I'm a rocker and always will be. I play guitar, bass, mandolin, harmonica and a E flat alto sax, so I may have just a touch of musical ability. And I can spell also.

Gibbons actually revealed what this song is about. As said on the best of zz top album, tube snake is gnarly lingo for a surf board. Don't believe me, look it up, this is from the writer.

I was born in the wrong era! I would have loved to live in the 70s and 80s instead of the 90s. All I listen to is the oldies. The new stuff is total crap. There's no feeling or meaning to the shit they come out with these days. Steve Miller, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Styx, ZZ Top, Kiss, Kansas, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Bad Company, Billy Idol, Black Sabbath, The Eagles, Foreigner, Heart. I could on forever!

It seems todays artists don't have enough brains to come up with complete or meaningful lyrics. They just keep repeating some simple lines over and over accompanied by no-talent people who can do nothing but strum chords.
