I hate that people call this movie "man hating" when she also sought revenge after the women promoting/hiding the assault too. She also forgave the detective and depending on him to get her justice in the end. Assault most of the time isn't just the jerk dudes hyping up their friends in toxic masculinity circles, it's the bystanders, trusted authorities who do nothing or cover it up, slut shaming women, etc. It's a whole societal issue.

I heard that the ending is polarizing and I'm in the camp who really loves it. It really elevated the movie for me and actually made me respect it even more since it portrays such a bitter truth within our society, that the perpetrator of this kind gets caught only when it's too late because of how a case like this needs proper evidence for it to be a legit crime, and Cassie knew what she was doing going in. It may seem reckless but it's still in line with her character and mental state, either way she wants to prove her point so badly. It truly deserves the accolades it's receiving and I just hope the Academy doesn't snub this one out.

Yea, like the legal system is literally built to protect sexual predators and find no justice for survivors. I used to only have gay male friends and female friends when I was in high school, and my mom would ask why and it was because I actually felt safe to be alone and be myself around them and not have to worry that they were gonna try something as soon as I let my guard down. I know it sounds pretty extreme, but at that point, I had already had some pretty unsavory experiences with straight guys who were supposed to be people I could trust :/ I have since made friends with some straight guys that ARE actually decent.. but this movie made me think that maybe that's why a lot of women feel so inclined to have friendships with gay guys, because they feel like they can have male friends without having to worry in the back of their heads that the "nice guy" is just being nice until he can find an opportunity, idk..

I understand why the whole Gay Best Friend trope in media is troublesome, but I think that the tendency straight girls have to emulate that is deeper than them wanting to live their main character fantasy at the expense of real people. Having platonic friendships with someone of another gender is important and the threat of having that used against you terrifies some young women, whose inter-gender friendships are placed under increased scrutiny by peers and guardians. Best case scenario, you trust your platonic straight guy friend to drive you home, and in the worst case.....

This movie is so powerful... I also cried too. There is something so real about this, as any type of person that's been sexually objectified or threatened, it's just... a lot. It's a lot when she dies... but it's also such a relief when that guy gets arrested at the end. So many mixed feelings. Rage, joy, sadness, despair, etc... and as any type of person who's been on the other end of a dangerous man, yeah... it hits home.

This might sound really very rude, but I was really touched at how you were crying at the ending, as I haven't seen other reactors tear up or become emotional, as we see Cassandra getting justice for her friend. Seeing you tear up was really sweet in showing your understand so much of how women go through so much heartache and pain by sexual assault, and how it feels so rare that justice is brought to the victims. Throughout the ending I didn't cry but I was touched so much, by Gail receiving the necklace to symbolise Cassie's way of saying she is her bestest friend just like Nina was, and Cassie is now living through Gail much like Cassie was by avenging Nina. I also was touched seeing the police car, as you are reminded how too many time cases of sexual assault are ignored far too often, and it is nice to see Cassandra give Nina the justice she deserved. Was just really sweet seeing how emotional you got, and thank you for being a funny; honest; lovely and fun reactor. Xx

Jennifer Coolidge wrecked me in this film. As a 54 year old mother, with a 31 year old who actually DID conquer his own own first mountain, but still suffers the repercussive curses, with endless more daily mountains ahead. She fully portrayed a mother always trying to live with a horrific sense of doom, never knowing what to do, but living every breath wishing you could "fix" it for your child. 😶😶😶😶😶

The murder scene is almost 3mins long which is literally how long it would take to suffocate a person. And while I definitely think it wldv been better if Cassie lived. My favorite character in the film was the lawyer played by Alfred Molina. The other men didn't remember what happened as something bad. Just as a stupid thing that happened when they were "kids". The lawyer knew what he did and his conscience has been eating him. He asked for forgiveness or a way to help. I was glad to see Cassie cancelled her revenge against him. He's being punished by his conscience.

I agree except 1. he didn’t ask for forgiveness, that’s what Ryan did. He stated the fact that he would never forgive himself. Cassie forgave him because of that and his breakdown of relief didn’t mean he forgave himself, which he shouldn’t. That’s why he’s a good man. BUT 2. he also was flawed because he wasn’t aware how threatening he seemed when he quickly say next to her and grabbed her. He didn’t pick up on her body language of fear because he was consumed with his own feelings. But you can feel that this character has the potential for growth. Feeling guilty isn’t the solution nor will it give him absolution. Prosecuting the perpetrators will be the right step, but he should also continue to empathize with women and not forget their feelings when he’s focused on his own.
