Harlan was able to come up with the alibi for Marta so quickly because he’s a murder mystery writer. During the earlier scene where everyone is being questioned, Walt (Michael Shannon) tells the detectives that the plots of his books used to just pop into his head fully formed. I love that you did Knives Out! I saw this 14 times when it was playing at my local cinemas and did a video essay about every detail of why the film is amazing. The more you rewatch it, the more you can see how tightly woven the script and filmmaking is! 😻🔥

See, for me if she's been in many popular shows then she is in fact getting recognition, but I think we have different expectations for her (I think she could become iconic, not that she already is one) and of how fame works; for me she's a cuban actress that is already short listed for every ingenue role in Hollywood, competing with privilege girls from LA, for roles and heartrobs, so my experience of her is: she came out of nowhere (I'm Argentinian and never saw her in anything) was great in this one movie, got herself a famous boyfriend cause she's very pretty, and boom; she's fighting JLaw for roles. She broke through more rapidly than any other iconic latinas like Salma and or Penélope.

Not David trying to solve the mystery and failing completely like I did 😂😂😂 I saw this in theaters, opening day, in a half-empty theater. It was a MAGICAL experience. I was sweaty, sleep-deprived and coming in from a 9-hour shift at work and I still enjoyed the hell out of it, which I feel is a testament to how good the movie was lmao. there is a lot of foreshadowing that i never picked up on throughout this movie until i watched a few more times . like harlan said that ransom plays life like a game without consequences and how ransom can’t tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife. that’s why when ransom picked up that knife to kill marta after making a huge mess just to get money, he picked a prop.that shows how he doesn’t know how to kill someone and get away with it. the scene showed how marta is more invincible and smarter than how people perceive her. it also shows how marta knows what’s she is doing when giving harlan medicine. which finally shows how ransoms actions caught up to him and bit him in the ass. finally showing him that the actions he makes in his life, have consequences. that’s just my takeaway from that. plus they did a great job with the writing and plot of the movie.

another little detail i just noticed it's that both Linda and Walter tell Marta (when the other one isn't around) that "she should've been in the funeral but it wasn't their decision, however, who's decision was it then? for obvious reasons, the sons always organize the funeral, so that's just another little thing in the script to let us know that neither of them cared about Marta being there.

Y’all I just realised , when Harlan’s talking to Marta while he’s getting his medication, he mentions that Ransom can’t tell the difference between a real knife and a prop , and that’s why Marta doesn’t actually get stabbed at the end .
