We as a community have to stop calling AIRCRAFT flyers since there are so many units that have the FLY keyword.

I primarily play shooting armies (mostly T'au) and I find that these terrain layouts are way to friendly to the melee factions. I understand that they want to play their faction too, but melee armies tend to annihilate most shooting armies. I realize it is true that most shooting armies can annihilate melee armies before they get into charge range. I try to set up my terrain in my games so that both armies have a chance to "play". And it annoys me when melee armies whine when they get shot off the table, but all delighted when they can get 1st or 2nd turn charges off and take out a shooting army by T3. Yes, I realize I am biased. LOL Probably the main problem is that I am a very casual player, getting just 2-3 game per month or two, so just don't know how to play well against melee armies.

Just watching this now and on turn 1 what is adrian shooting from his crisis..? He shot 3 shots each suit and over 18” but he calls them plasma? So very confused lol

In my own opinion Terrain in 40k has never felt right. It could be so simple if you just get -1 to hit if shooting into a ruin along with +1 to save for the target unit. Then just make this -2 to hit and +2 save if they are fully behind the scenery (get rid of that stupid 3+ limit and allow units a 2+ save again). Maybe add in some movement reduction or an inability to advance through certain terrain features and it's done. Nice and easy. True line of sight. Towering models and aircraft can then ignore one of the minuses to hit. Reducing games tables down to a series of uninspiring rectangles really goes against the creativity of the hobby as well.

I dont know why layout 3 isnt used more. i actually played on 3 and it felt fine. I run tournaments for my LGS and i was debating on doing custom mission combinations on layout 3 to see how it would go

I reject ITC terrain layouts out of hand (as a battle sim, granted in a fictional universe) because no "battlefield" in a ruins or urban human setting are in a perfect asymetrical circle like that. Xenos themed arenas, sure, but everything? We had it better when it was 1'x1' mdf squares and scatter terrain in the gaps.

Sylvaneth strike first is only in opponents turn. Beautiful setup, but would be nice if the Sylvaneth player was a bit more familiar with the rules.

Those shrines tokens being useful actually hurts me. I used them with cherubs for more sisters tokens. Oops

I think their relationship would be something interesting to see hinted towards in novels but never directly addressed.

I am not sure if this was a mistake, but the Ork List that Adrian said he had did not match with what was shown on the screen. I think it was showing the Ork list he used last time

Great game! As an Eldar player it seems you get punished hard for mistakes 😅 I do feel like once you committed Lykhis you should have charged to make her trade up more because you were going to get completely shot up the next turn anyway. But I learnt a lot of new cool tricks so thank you!

Idgaf if it’s not canon in the books. It’s canon in my homebrew. That’s all that matters.
