Beautiful truck! I really love the sound of those old Detroit 2 stroke engines! When I was a kid my dad had his own mobile home moving business. It was my first job when I was 10-15, I went with him on every mobile home pull for about 5 years. It was my job to put a red flag on every corner of the trailer, put the "wide load" sign on the back of the trailer and anytime we had blowouts on a trailer (which was often) it was my job to string the air hose from the truck back to the trailer and carry all the tools. I would also guide my dad back under the hitch and also guide him back when he was backing the trailers in. He had three different trucks, the first two I don't remember much about. But the last one was a mid 70s International Transtar and it had an 8V-92 Detroit with a 13 speed. It had such a distinct sound! I did a little recreation of it on my ATS game. I always liked them transtars and the way their interiors were set up i would like to see this thing when she is finished my father had a brand new 1972 transtar in 72 had that new truck smell two tone green dripping in chrome. Prob a hunk of junk in some junkyard i often think that well good luck with her i will subscribe.

That's interesting, it says 74, but it looks like a 73 or older, in 74, International changed a few things, like the wipers were mounted on the top side of the windshields, the dash was completely changed as well. It could very well be a late 73, early 74 and was titled as a 74. Good looking truck I drove a 70 model looked just like that one. Had a 250 horsepower Cummins, and 10 speed transmission. Was an OK truck, but they rattled a lot and the small cam Cummins was down on Torque translate S L O W but dependable.

I was thinking the same. 74 was the first year of the Transtar ll. And your right the wipers were moved to the roof. This is a beautiful old truck either way. We had a 69 that I rode a lot of miles in as a kid with my Dad.

My uncle had several transtars back in the early to mid 80s one was pumpkin orange with a detroit his others were 290 and 350 and 400 cummins.

A cabover was what a lot of people thought of whenever they heard the word "semi" back in those days. The length limit was shorter & cabovers were common use.
