Are you sure the motor is a 335? Intake manifold doesn't look right for a 335.I noticed the heads are painted red-must have come off of an International as they are the only ones to paint a cummins motor red

No cancer... Sandblasting with some epoxy primer and paint and new suspension and brake lines and hardware away from being super reliable and clean.. I'd put a 3406B in it and have a pro upholster it too if I really wanted to do it right..

back in the day's there were restrictions on the length of commercial vehicles that's the reason for so many cabovers back then

Small cam 350. These were good pulling trucks. They use to have one engine number that would easily out pull any 400.

cool truck. I always loved the look of the cabover trucks....although over the past several years they seem to be just about extinct. Since you are a big truck fan do you know why company's don't use them anymore? My uncle drove over the road for a couple of years many years ago and he said with the front seats right over the front wheels made for a really rough ride....maybe thats why? dont know.....
@drewchristian54489 жыл бұрын
MuttModeler It's because no one manufactures cabovers anymore and the big companies all have trucks with 500,000 miles or less on them then they sell them. I work for a small company that has 2 cabovers that are used as yard dogs. I crawled in one last night, seemed really strange.
@plumbingstuffinoregon24717 жыл бұрын
Also the fact that they are not areodynamic at all. You notice that most large fleet trucks today are ridiculously areodynamic.
@sabrinacordell62905 жыл бұрын
Cabovers were used in the days of shorter length laws especially in states east of the Mississippi. After length laws were changed,they were no longer practical.

335 Cummins never had an after cooler.This thing must be a 350.
@sabrinacordell62905 жыл бұрын
Could be a 290,but aftercoolers could be installed on 335's which became a 350.
@georgerenton9655 жыл бұрын
I agree. Small cam FFC ( Full Flow Cooling ). NTC 350. That would make it a very early 350. 335's are a totally different engine. They had a taper nose crank, not a " billet " nose. Could not accommodate that style of after cooler, different water pump etc. I'd need to look at the video again to see if it has an anaroid or AFC diaphragm built into the back of the fuel pump. Did I see it's a 5 x4 ? Notice both corners of the cab have cutaways for the exhaust, and the classic air intake passing through the roof and bunk. Very Pete ! I drove one of these new in 77. That's when Peterbilt came to Canada. KW was on strike in Montreal. People in the know think that Pacar kept the workers out to get Pete's in the door. We had two K-100 's on order that they couldn't deliver so boss bought two 352's. I'd heard they where the Cadillac of trucks. Not so, though the Pete Air- Trac suspension was one of the best. Especially for hauling hanging beef. Very stable. Now the double doughnut suspension seen on this truck I think came off a later Freightliner. That where as harsh as the Hendrickson concrete block suspension. I've driven cabovers with extended leaf Hendrickson that road better than the double doughnut. Thanks for the video. The memories are still fresh. That would have been top gear equipment back in the day. KW K-100's where always my favourite except in winter.

Why dont Americans use cabovers these days
@fredgrove42208 жыл бұрын
Not a 4x4, it has 3 axles, there for it is a 6x4.
@japcas7 жыл бұрын
4x4 refers to the twin stick trans, not the axles
@fredgrove42207 жыл бұрын
If it refers to it's twin stick trans, then it does not confer to the universal concept of 4x4, which refers to 4 wheel configuration, 4 wheel drive.
@japcas7 жыл бұрын
If the video was about a 4 wheel drive truck I'd agree. We're talking about something entirely different here though. 4x4 here refer to the 4 speed main and 4 speed auxiliary transmissions in the truck.
