I used to fish here 10 to 12 years ago. Such a lovely venue to fish! Used to fish at the very tip of the shallow end, not sure if it's still the same but there used to be a swampy puddle behind the lake and the swim was on a little walkway between the 2. Used to catch them right under the rod tips, even in the middle of winter. Had a big family argument on Christmas morning 10 years ago, just after my daughter was born and not knowing where to go I spent Xmas afternoon sat in a tree watching and feeding the carp below!

Genuinely love watching your videos, especially when you come up to this area. I generally go from Stoke Bardolph all the way up to Gainsborough...( not on the same day !). Some great day tickets to be bought and with so many clubs along the way it's not feasible to have a season ticket for the whole length I use... Some beasts to be caught wherever I go though. Hello Mark, on the Yorkshire rivers we tend to turn to maggot feeder on the top rod at this time of year , yes you may attract small fish initially but if you keep it going in the chub and barbel will turn up , we use the kamasan black cap feeders some times with dead cows on if the flow is strong . Might be worth a go on the Severn ?

A enjoyable vlog as always, some days the universal just conspires against you. I've been struggling this season ads do most I speak to.

I agree. The people I meet are pleasant and very open, unlike the southern rivers! I was up the week before and I found it tricky. Yes the leaves make it hard.I tend to fish on the creases rather than right across and draw the fish in with hemp and bits of broken boilie/ few pellets using a dropper. The should I stay or should I go question is a tricky one. If the fish are hard on the feed it can be very productive to move but very often they are not and take time to respond. When they are feeding in short spells it is very easy to leave a good swim before they come on the feed. After over 40 years of Barbel fishing I have concluded that you are better off staying put. If you have picked a good swim, certainly on a river like the Severn, there should be Barbel in the area. I watched a couple of guys rolling meat last week. I didn't see them catch. The fish weren't feeding hard enough to respond to that highly mobile technique. These are just my feelings. Well done for your determination. Keep it going. Trying to decide whether to go up this month again. 🤔👍

Hi Mark, I was down the stretch yesterday on my bike looking at the river (we've got a match on Sunday). I had a quick chat with the lads digging up the track.
