I do enjoy your vids Mark. Great to see your tip go round at least twice on film. I doubt I ever actually see the bite like that when I'm fishing myself down there. Love your dedication/enthusiasm to travel that far under those conditions. Look forward to more of your videos (2nd only to actually getting down there myself) and hope to bump into you on the bank😀

Cheers Phil, being a “local” you know when to stay indoors 😉 hopefully see you on the bank soon

Less bait in cold conditions? Single hookbaits or maggots in a feeder fished sparingly. Well done for making the effort. 👍

You are dedicated to travel that far Mark. I luckily live in North Yorkshire where we are blessed with a few barbel rivers ! Furthest I will travel for one day is the trent which is 1.5 to 1.75 hrs, don’t go regularly though . Just a tip for keeping your meat on when hair rigging , I use pole elastic to make bands , just same as a pellet band , advantage being you can make them to whatever size meat you want . Stays on real well . 😊

Thanks Andy. I can get to the Trent in Notts in about 1 1/2 hours so will target that as well next season. That sounds like a good tip for the meat, thanks 👍🏻

Have you tried a baitdropper? Very effective when fishing close to middle. Little bits of chopped meat and hemp and small pellets can be delivered tight to your hookbait. Works for me. 👍
@AnAverageAngler7 ай бұрын
I’ve just bought one and it was in my bag at the weekend 🙄 Exactly what my thought process is, with the current below a lot slower than on top the bait will hopefully stay quite close. I’ll be trying it out next time 👍🏻

The Severn is one of the most polluted and toxic rivers in the country so take great care and don't even think of putting you hand in the water if it has even so much as a small graze.
@pleasantville45298 ай бұрын
Really? I didn't know it had gotten that bad.
@leftmono10167 ай бұрын
That’s not really true is it, it may be polluted but it’s not dangerous. Speaking as someone whose had multiple cuts/grazes from pike teeth. No ill effects.

Loved the video but when your fishing for one or two fish in bad conditions I personally think no need for so much bait. . ? Just a thought .
@AnAverageAngler8 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. You could be right about the amount of bait, although on the middle Severn they do swim around in shoals, so Quite often you can hold a shoal in your peg for a couple of hours due to all the bait and have a good days fishing, that said, it didn’t work on this occasion 🥴

Hi mate. I’ve walked several sections and not found them 🤷🏼♂️ Hopefully I’ll get on it a few times over the next couple of months and find them
