I have a Korg SQ10 to go with my MS20….. love it, but it’s a pain in the arse to sequence pitch because it’s unquantized! If behringer were to do it, it would be useful to include a quantiser and stage buttons (like the moog 960)! Saying that, it would be great if they done a 3U 19” rack ARP 1623 sequencer to go with their 2600 synth…… I also wish they done a desktop module of the ARP odyssey, similar to the model D….. they could’ve done a 19” rack mount (like the 2600)…. Even if they had to make it a bit bigger, say even 4U (the 2600 is 8U I believe)…. That would be killer👍

Another trick which I think is unique to Novation is the ability to tune the pitch bend separately for each oscillator. This is a fantastic option and one that is overlooked by other manufacturers. Pitch bending on steroids !

Oscillators have ability to drift or not, way ahead of it's time. I thought the press into the keys was pressure? I have 25key - they are going for more than that on reverb. Not sure drivers are working with win 10, phantom power, works as controller if you just want that. I never play it... not sure why...

The BQ-10 combines the Korg SQ-10 sequencer, and the rare Korg MS-02 synth interface CV converter box. If anyone ever wanted an MS-02, now's your chance... for those who want the truly vintage synth experience converting Hz/V signals to OCT/V. Could be a really useful tool for guys who own classic gear.

I had one of these years back, loved the sounds I could coax out of it. Only reason I ended up selling was due to constant problems with the pitch bend. I had already replaced it twice and it would last about 6 months, then start wandering out of tune mid-gig!! Broke my heart! 😢

I have the ReMOTE 25 Audio (the one before) updated to X-Station and I have their MiniNova and I prefer the ReMOTE 25 Audio to play. It also makes a great controller with all those mappable controls. If only Novation would release something a little more up to date..... or return to producing more of these. A very enjoyable tool (and I'd have another)

I have the exact same :D It is indeed the X-Station 25, just the cover says Remote 25 audio, but the actual remote 25 it is just a midi-controller. At least the version I have, its a audio interface, midi-controller, sequencer, FX processor. Mine just turned 20 years old and still rocks... What an awesome machine

Those arp-y patches are sooooo late-'90s. The Roland XV-5080 has patches that sound almost exactly like those. And the E-mu XL-1 has a lot of arp patches. Some of them sound really good but the built-in arps are a really esoteric bit of menu diving. The pinnacle of that late-'90s sound is the Korg Radias, but that was 2006 LOL.

Wow, only just found the channel after I was wondering what other people thought of the Hohner 'The Jack' bass which I bought back in the misty days of the 90's. Then, to my delight I find this, fellow weirdos collecting up ancient AF oscillators and fixing them!!! I have an Advance H1 amongst others. Nice to know I'm not the only one left playing with them and mending the broken ones. Nice one guys, subbed.

@TheSynthnut11 күн бұрын
The Polysynthi is one of those synths that's rarity has made it mysterious and sought after but is actually pretty crap. It does have one very cool feature and that's the onboard voltage controlled delay, but otherwise it's a paraphonic synth with some nice modulation capabilities. The oscillators are more organ than synth and the "Synthi" name is misleading as it wasn't a polyphonic version of a VCS3 in any way. It was heralded as EMS's foray into a more commercial realm (with a price tag of about £800 back in the day) and reviews of the time expected it to sell well for them, but as we know, that was not to be. I think people would get more mileage from a stand alone voltage controlled delay and some modules.

Is there any reason to buy a Neutron if you can get a Proton instead?
@simonbeck744612 күн бұрын
Several possible reasons: Neutron has: Sample & Hold Voltage-controlled analog delay Distortion unit MIDI Gate patch point Slew. The Proton lacks all the above. Instead, it has two of each basic building block: Oscillator with sub-octave Multimode VCF VCA LFO ADSR envelope Loopable ASR envelope Attenuvertor plus a single Wave Folder. However, it lacks the two independent MIDI gates that would allow it to be configured as a true duophonic synth.

Interesting, it's like an 8-track Optigan. Radio stations once had "cart machines" that played looping 8-track tapes for commercials, station identification jingles, show theme songs, etc. Maybe that was the inspiration. Does the Bandmaster Powerhouse have a speed control to change the tempo?

The yen conversion's way off - the EX5's RRP was £2799! It's still one of the most flexible synths ever made - but it tanked, alongside the Kawai K5000 and Technics WSA1, because suddenly everyone wanted virtual analogue synths, not god-tier digital. It doesn't help that the manual is so complicated that Yamaha UK wrote their own ('The Joy Of EX'), and the less said about sample loading times from SCSI the better. I picked mine up from Cash Converters for £100 in the mid-00s, and it's a keeper. For years they hovered around the £350 mark on eBay, but now they're creeping up. Still an underrated bargain, though!
