Hi I know a while back you had a Malibu Sierra 10 not sure if you had a kayak trolley but would you be able to recommend one for this kayak please Thanks in advance Richie
@paddlefisherКүн бұрын
I didn't have a trolley for that kayak, but would suggest an adjustable one to fit the scupper holes. Hope that helps.

The Zx's are great for whiting in the shallows especially down Peel way in summer. Have lost a few Zx in my time. Whilst being costly they are definetly worth every cent. Some flattys on the score board mate, well done.
@paddlefisherКүн бұрын
Cheers mate, some ZX's are on the shopping list for sure!

As we’ve already established, I’m land locked in the states and the only thing I know about fishing in Aus is what I see on KZbin. Now I’m not really a smart man but I think I’m observant and I think it’s your tactics that may be the culprit. The Hitzke and Lurebox guys on the east coast of Aus are always talking about keeping the rod tip up and keeping pressure on the line. I notice the guys that fish tailor a lot keep the rod tip down because tailor will jump and spit the hook. You have your rod pretty much horizontal, maybe hold it up a bit? 🤷But like I’ve said, I’m definitely no expert, just food for thought. Keep up the good work Andy, cheers! 👍
@paddlefisherКүн бұрын
Leaving the rod tip low is definitely a tailor technique which I am in the habit of using, so I will keep the rod tip higher when fighting flatties. Good spotting mate!

Looks like a V2 drive like I have in my 2011 outback. That dang pin that runs through the drive and also locks the drive itself into the drive well is notorious for trapping sand ...at least if you fish the salt off the beaches. Anyway, I've had to replace that pin almost every year of use. If you pull it out you might find that the pedal action just wore the pin away and now the drive parts are loose on the pin. I've had buddies that have snapped the pedal shafts and various other parts of the drive too just from use. Hobie really needed to put the moving parts on ball bearings instead of just pressure fit onto the shaft itself. I've debated buying a newer version yak but there is something to be said for the simplicity of the old outbacks, and your ability to make homemade solutions to keep it running, like an old truck! Good luck!! Another Andy in South Carolina, USA
@paddlefisherКүн бұрын
Cheers for the tip Andy, I will look into that pin and see if that is the cause of the issues. I still haven't got the old outback on the water yet as my revo 11 is a perfect little boat for the style of fishing that I do, but I will have to get it out soon...outback's are such great boats! Cheers again.

@paddlefisher yes! Lots of revo 13s in my group.

I usually bump them on the bottom then slow drop back

Cheers mate, the revo has been a great little boat...ideal for squid runs or trolling for tailor. I do get a bit wet if there is a bit of chop though.

Great video mate. I was down at point Walter the other day , when I snagged it up, or changed my reel speed I lost them. If I kept the same reel in and didn’t jag it up, it stayed on. I don’t know if it was coincidence or not, but maybe try that . PS I only caught two, one got away, the other stayed on - so not sure if that’s a great sample size to be sprouting advice from haha

Cheers mate, interesting observations there, it has been a steep learning curve for me so far...I am at the stage where I am confident in hooking fish but not so much in landing fish. Cheers again!

@paddlefisher2 күн бұрын
Cheers Paz, I will very likely look into the ZX prawns, I am fast becoming a convert to this style of fishing.
@Azz1515152 күн бұрын
I've caught flatties and bream in the swan on the ZX prawns as well, the pink ones are my go to when nothing else is biting. Also got my PB tailor under the causeway bridge 19 months ago on the same colour ZX. Very snaggy there though. Great little lures and they work really well for herring sand whiting too.

Cant help with the hook up/net rate, maybe call into a reputable tackle store, or where you bought the vibes. They may have a suggestion or some advice as to where you are going wrong. Maybe a case of practice makes perfect. But shit it must be frustrating going 50/50
