Update, now that it's complete enough to be usable: Wooden dowel rod is strong enough to lock the upright, and I'm surprised how solid it is. I'll see if I even need to upgrade to steel rod. If your holes are as crooked as mine, wait to drill the frame until it's assembled with a 6 or 12" 3/8 aircraft drill bit, or 1/8 x 6 aircraft bit and then spade bit. Also, you can ream holes out with threaded rod to align them if they're crooked, but it can splinter the wood near the edge of the hole.

@@MarcinDruzdzel Thank you for the update. I noticed with mine that the wood definitely moves with moisture and time. Even if you used a drill press and hole are perfect when you make it they can can get tight or loose in different seasons. Great to know about the wooden dowels being strong enough also.

This is a good design, and I bought the plan. It would be really helpful if there was also a cutting list and if the dimensions were in metric.

Dude that is Clean as hell! I’d be curious to know what your trade is, this wasn’t made by some “garage handyman” (home owner edition) such as myself, Well Done, be interested to see the disassemble and reassemble for painting video.

Appreciate the inspiration!! I have looked at many other carts but prefer your open design. I plan to make one similar....possibly longer just because of the surplus scrap materials I have. Thank you so much for sharing and great simple video!!!

These look like a great idea. I keep most of these items in my 15” Milwaukee packout tool tote. It’s sitting on a stool and it rolls around the shop to where I’m working. Pick up the tool, use the tool, put the tool back. Super convenient. As long as you follow the 3 steps. My biggest problem is my bits and drills. They are stored in boxes like yours and I leave them open on a bend and they over time get full of saw dust and screws. Plus I keep closing them and putting them away then finding one more bit somewhere…. Three times… need a better solution for this.

I know it's been 5 years since you posted the video, but still, "Well done!" Having the wheels rest on the pontoon bar was a great idea. Quick question: When the wheels are down, they seem to be well behind the kayak's center of gravity. Has this made pulling the rig more difficult?
@mewmew325 ай бұрын
wheels under the center of gravity wouldn't be practical for pulling over rough terrain.

Nice project, but you should be aware steel in contact with aluminum in water causes galvanic current between the dissimilar metals, which will cause your metal parts to corrode especially in salt water.

just got a sportsman 106 pdl I wish I would have found this video before I was up until midnight last night trying to adapt my transducer to the mount given, Not happy with it so I'm going back out to the garage and making one of these. Maybe if I mount the transducer backwards it can be snugged up a bit closer to the hull.

THANKS so much! I just finished making this shave horse per your plans. It works great on my hiking sticks, so much easier on my back than sanding bark with an angle grinder. I was able to use up a bunch of scrap wood, and only had to by the metal rod. The adjustability is perfect, to get alignment just right. WONDERFUL PLANS!

Dude. Im literally building the exact setup so my kid doesn't overload my current mounts. Im going to add a sealed board to cover the frame for his lounging comfort as we fish. I literally have been watching everyone else's videos to gauge the most effective electrical conduit/pvc frame layout for weight dispersement. Then, boom! The man with the set up. Thank you
