Really very helpful - an excellent idea to do a video like this to help novices like me to make your projects. TBH, I still find some bits difficult (I agree with Sarah Wilson's comment below), but I'm a beginner and I expect to find it hard. I thought maybe you could do a voice commentary explaining more of what you're doing and how you're doing it.

We sew without words to accompany the instructions. Sewing requires practice, so the bits that are more complicated, such as cuffs or collar is a good idea to try a few times before cutting into your good fabric. The techniques are universal, and you will eventually master the tricky bits.

Really, excellent! This pattern makes a close, accurate fit.... rather than a relaxed, loose fit. Go up a size for that. The video instructions are very good. Far better than the instructions in that book on Savile Row tailoring by PGrant... don't waste money buying that expensive book, as I did, to make the free pattern, just stick with The Jensen from Wardrobe By Me. With some additional research to consolidate your knowledge of shirtmaking and by making The Jensen, you really can become a master shirtmaker. I can't thank Wardrobe By Me enough! I wish I could share my photos. I keep wearing the shirt... and I'm now making a second and will offer to make it for others.

Great instructions. I have two comments: - In your pdf (man's Chino pants), in step 13 (p15), it says "Turn the piece right side up, and topstitch from waist to crotch 2 mm on the *right* side of the center front line." Shouldn't that be "the left side", as it is noted in this video? Unless you talk about the seamstress' point of view, instead of the wearer's. - In the same pdf, step 17 (p17), the text says "Draw the shape of the fly with chalk 3 cm from center front." But then the drawing in the pdf is marked as 3.5 cm. Similarly, in the video, the subtitles says "3 cm", but the seamstress does 3.5 cm. This is a bit confusing. I am going to go with 3.5, like my other existing chino pants, but you may want to update the pdf to have corresponding measures in both text and drawing. I do appreciate having all these videos that come along with the patterns, so thanks for that. All the best.

As it says, place the piece with the right side up and topstitch on the right side of the center seam. When you pick up the piece and place it against the body, this will result in a left facing zipper ( male). 3,5 cm distance is correct.

I’m finding this confusing as your Hepburn written instructions tell you to do something different to what is being done in the video for step 3 pocket facings. Which is right?
@Wardrobebyme2 ай бұрын
They are the same, but in the video, the seamstress wants the right side of the fabric to be visible inside the pants, where as the instructions have the right side of the pocket lining insde the pocket.

You shorten half above and half below the knee. Blend the lines, meeting with the knee and hem

Nice contemporary pattern which I am enjoying making but the pdf instructions are not great and although the video helps it still falls short, for me, of explaining in particular how to attach the collar. The camera is just too close and all i can see is hands ! Also using a fabric where the right side is obvious would be a great help. On to my 3rd unpicking of the collar..............................!
