Nice piece Max. Having looked at more than a few RV warranties of late, I know it's an area of the industry generally where "could do better" very much applies on all counts, both pre and post purchase.

Hi Mal! Thank you. I agree with you. Am considering an article for our e-mag on the issue too.

12 month warranty is too short these days. When you can get 10 years on a car we should be getting three years.

Your kidding about any decent manufacturers. You need to contact Lemon RV's
@gorv2 күн бұрын
I’ve personally owned three vans from different manufacturers and have not had a single problem. There has definitely been dodgy product in the industry and we’ve called this issue out before, but to suggest it is all bad or that all manufacturers are dodgy is not right, and it also discounts the enjoyment that thousands of caravanners get out of their vans each year.

Has the rig been weighed together and how much upgrade on the tow vehicle.Looks like you don’t have much payload left after you fill your water tanks and Jerry cans
@rodjenny3 күн бұрын
Thanks for that.I can tell you now that I bought a Nova Caravan off a dealership then after multiple problems was taken back to the factory to fix.Three weeks to organise transportation back to factory then a month to get back to me. So was paying ownership and insurance for a caravan for 1 week out of 8 weeks because I could not use it.After selling our house to use it for full time travelling found water coming in from roof leak around their solar panels and leaking in from J mold in that area.Could not get repairs back to dealership until about 3 months later so damage to inside wall,water stains on lounge,ply timber under lounge and inside panels in overhead cupboards as well as several places on walls.Leak was fixed by dealership supposedly.6 months after talking to Nova before repairs where done which they fixed inside wall which looks like the sanded and painted as can still see marks.That was all they did as a good will gesture to me and would not pay for accommodation while waiting as they said I had voided warranty because extra solar panels where put on roof which had nothing to do with where leak was

I like the system, however, the info on pausing your Starlink service should be clarified. If you activate the service on the same day as your monthly billing cycle, you pay for the full month, if you pause the service during that month, you have still paid for the full month, ie, you dont get a refund each time you pause the service during the billing cycle. If the service is paused and you activate the service mid-way through your billing cycle, you then pay a pro-rata amount from the day you activate up to your next billing cycle.

I know this happens, but when you see soft sand ahead, stop and checkout the track. Then if you do get bogged like these people, sit down, access the situation, get out all equipment you have, make a plan and stick to it. Ok, it would be hard work, but even this camper would be able to be removed from this bog. Every vehicle has a jack, ok it's a bit of hard work, jack up each wheel as high as you can go, fill the hole with whatever you can find and the track behind the wheel. Take your time, have plenty of rests and drink plenty of water, can be done.

Should you really use a chain like a snatch strap? I wouldn't have thought so, but I guess if that's all you've got at your disposal?
@gorv27 күн бұрын
I think in this case it was a matter of using whatever was available, and when you’re bogged in the middle of nowhere, you’d take whatever help you can get!
@nuggets.677427 күн бұрын
@gorv Yeah, true. Even better, perhaps any motorhome owner should carry some recovery gear if getting off the bitumen? I’m converting a bus, and your video has now prompted me to carry some. Thanks.

What weight was the 79 loaded, and what weight is on the rear axle when unhitched? Trying to decide whether to go for the 4 or 5 leaf TT parabolics.
@myaussietravelguide857829 күн бұрын
Hi Mark, the vehicle weight was 3700kg unhitched without the extra fuel tank and extra water tank filled. For info, the ball weight of our camper when loaded is only around 130kg. We don't have a weight for the rear axle. As the video shows, we started with the 3 leaf TT set, but now settled on the 4 leaf, assisted with airbags when needed.

Hi Max do you think titanium is better than vacationer caravan can they customise
@gorvАй бұрын
I would personally opt for Titanium. They are likely to be more expensive but they are very solid, fit for purpose caravans and have some great ideas in terms of their layouts. They also have a demonstrable history personally testing their vans in a wide range of conditions. Good luck! - Max

Pay road user fees and taxes. If you need to rest and stop, and truck stops are available, you have every right. You also need to rest and be alert on the road. Perhaps we are better off with freight going back to rail. I’m all for trucks having mandatory rest breaks. However, caravaners often can’t stop at caravan parks at short notice due to being booked out or not available. I’ve stopped at places where they have torn up the passenger vehicle parking and only left truck stops.

It is so good to see someone spruking the items discussed, Hopefully some of them will stick with people. I am a 25 year veteran of the caravan industry who tries to educate people on these very things at every opportunity. the biggest disappointment is that it usually falls on deaf ears, or "she be right, I don't need to do that I have experience". I travel across the norther ranges every week and have caravans and motorhomes travelling at 40 to 50km below the limit, no mirrors and sagging badly, with no idea of the lines behind them. Most don't even pull over at the safe spots to do so. there have been so many near misses that I witness from overtaking in bad spots due to frustration. keep up the good work
