This is one of the great movies not just of the genre but of all time. Sheen was great in this also.

How these two clowns ever made a career doing movie reviews still amazes me. They are pretentious, short-sighted, and awful.

Gene Siskel purchased the iconic white suit worn by John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever" at a charity auction for $300 in 1979. This suit later gained significant value, fetching $145,500 at a Christie's auction in 1995 after Siskel's death.

I saw it yesterday. I agree with Siskel and the original critics. There are things to appreciate, but the film has an odd narrative structure. The first hour is pointless. We get all these backstories which do nothing to develop the characters. I didn't feel I know any of them, a big problem of the movie. The movie has very little dialogue. It's almost a silent movie. So there's little drama or conflict other than action. The fate of the two trucks and the lead character were predictable for me. Not a masterpiece by any means.

I’ve watched many reviews by these two and I tend to side with Gene more often. However, in this review I think Roger is right on, I’m not sure where Gene gets the idea Wall Street tycoons are always cool, calm and collected behind closed doors. He usually seems to have keen insight into human behavior, but he’s way off here.

Alien 3 is so convoluted and ridiculous I had to watch it a second time just to see if I was too hard on it. I was not because I hated it more than the first time I saw it. There are hardly characters in which you really care about other than the Charles S. Dutton character and the rest of the prisoners are there for really no reason. At least David Fincher is honest enough to say he hates this movie because it was his first and the sky was the limit from then on.

You can get this original audio track on the Blu Ray release if you go to the "audio" menu and select "DTS 2.0" I recommend the French Mono option though, that sounds the best for this scene.

Although this is a good film to me it does not stand up to the film from which is was taken. The Wages of Fear. In the original less is known about the 4 characters; there is no set of prologues. Also the truck explosion scene in this film does not occur on screen in the Wages of Fear. The explosion off screen makes you wonder what went wrong. The film flopped because of 1 - the title, and 2 it was released around the same time as Star Wars. Still enjoyable but I prefer The Wages of Fear.

I just finished the audiobook today and I think the mystery of the echo in the cave is not the mystery of india but something much darker. Its more like the mystery that's at the heart of anxiety and panic.

siskel and ebert i think are shy on this film, which was I thought terrific and fun and a great romp through the demimonde of paris, complete with nuclear bomb materials, middleeastern terrorists, french coke dealers, french police, american cia, and doctors there for a conference that gives them license to party, party, party. this was a great film that made siskel and ebert uncomfortable. the girl is too young, they are feeling. polanski has a controversial past, to say the least. europe is a "nice" place, nothing like this (in their sanitized assessment.) Terrorists aren't always Arabs and Cyprus born gangsters, dammit. The film was not politically correct enough, i think. There was also the obvious suggestion that the whole thing was a bit of FANTASY for the Harrison Ford character! He is in Paris running around with the sexual dynamite young girl, intensely involved. He is a hero, chasing terrorists, dealing with cops, etc. In the end, he "trades" his hot Parisian girl (in red) back for his "real" life wife (in red.) Vacation is over. The girl dies. Time to go back to the US of A and resume normal life....

This is really an odd video. I find it doubtful that these were the clips they aired on this show since one is a serious spoiler, one shows a graphic death and another airs an uncensored f-bomb. I'm sure I saw this episode back in the day when it aired, but I really don't think these are the clips from the film they used. Weird...

It feels like a De Palma film. Scorsese really went outside his comfort zone and took risks making this. Its excellent. Seeing Robert Mitchum always makes me sad cos he was the double of my father RIP to both men.

As usual, I found myself thinking: Did Siskel watch the same movie as Ebert? HAL didn't try to stop them from launching a probe to Europa. He suggested they stick around and find out what was happening to Jupiter. With respect to "disappointment" about the ending: The "aliens" essentially created a solar system within the solar system (physically impossible by most accounts, but it's a movie FFS). That's pretty wonderful if you ask me.

The look and setting of this film was brilliant I absolutely loved the concept of a prison planet but all they had to do was just not kill off Hicks and Newt right away, I think Hicks should have sacrificed himself protecting Ripley and Newt from the dog Alien before Ripley then sacrifices herself to kill the Queen leaving Newt as the last remaining survivor. The idea of parent figures protecting a child from a planet of murderers and rapists as well as an Alien running around is actually incredibly compelling and could have been even more intensive than the second movie in the lengths they go to protect a child.

Siskel and Ebert, sitting on their asses, critiquing the work the artist who's actually in the arena. This may not be a great film, it felt contrived and vaguely allegorical, but I found it engaging, the score by Morricone is great, and it's certainly nothing that any movie critic could ever pull off.

2:19 This sounds like this film would be a prime candidate for Ryan George's PITCH MEETING series: "Why don't the Russian soldiers just shoot out the plane tires to stop it from taking off?" "Listen sir, I'm going to need you to get ALL the way off my back about that!"😄
