Not a patch on the original but still I like Jaws 2 just to watch Roy Scheider playing Chief Brody. I understand why Steve Spielberg didn't want to direct this sequel but I would have loved to have seen what he would have done with it.

I saw this film in the summer of '78 when I was about 10 years old. There was a lot of screams on the motion picture screen but there was also a lot of screams in the audience. It's a lot of fun to watch the audience react to this movie and really getting into it. I also love the catchphrase for this film just when you thought it was safe to go back to the water.

Jaws 2 is a masterpiece compared to the stuff that's been released over the last 20 years.

I saw Jaws 2 for the first time in years sometime in 2021, & its a fairly decent film. Its biggest problem is that it is a sequel to Jaws. Thats a tough act to follow. The lack of Robert Shaw & Richard Dreyfuss didn't help either. Apparently one of the ideas initially pitched was to explore Amity's economic problems after what happened in the events of the first film. That would have been an interesting idea.

Read the Jaws 2 novelisation, based off of the original script if you haven't. A much more interesting story than the movie which has the elements you mentioned about a island ruined by the original attacks. That would have been a far more interesting movie.

Jaws 2 was as good as could reasonably be expected from a Jaws sequel. It was well written for one, despite the contrivances that were necessary to keep the same location/characters. Roy Scheider really treats the material sincerely, there's no half-arsing in his performance even though he must have known he could have phoned it in.

Those screaming teens splashing the water made it very difficult for me not to start cheering for the shark. I was shocked - to see the loudest of all getting away with it.

I think that Home Alone 2 was the first time that I realized as a child that they had basically just made the same movie again in a sequel.

I've honestly grown to love Jaws 2. The Original is a Masterpiece and one of my all time favourite Films. The Sequel had an extremely uphill battle, but I thought it was quite solid. Honestly, seeing more of the Shark in this one was fine for me. We already had the big suspenseful build up in the Original, so doing something different and showing us more of it early on was a nice change of pace. Plus Roy Scheider's performance makes the Film worth watching alone.

I like Jaws 2, it’s a decent movie. If you read the book, it’s radically different and includes a large mafia sub plot and the shark is pregnant, among other things.

Jaws 2 certainly didn't have "the same script" as Jaws as mentioned here. The original writing was far sharper, funnier, suspenseful and succinct.

Wonder if it took production another year to get the shark working again?

In all the ways to get killed by a shark, Eddie’s seemed the most fun! Imagine how much of a rush it would be to get dragged at high speed through the water like that! If I was his gf Tina I would have jumped into the water and shouted “me next”!😎

This is probably my favorite scene in the movie… but the underwater shark footage is awful.. it looks like they used the same shots over and over
