Strange Days was not very popular critically or commercially on release. I suspect this film is just way too dark, intelligent and thought provoking for a' Hollywood audience'. Strange Days is one of those rare films that when I first watched it I didn't want it to end. As Roger said, 'Great Film!'

I like strange days. I think it's a very different movie at the time it came out. I really enjoyed the performance from Angela Bassett and Ralph Fiennes. Tom Sizemore is also good here. Good story and terrific Acton sequences. A lot of twist and turns in it storytelling. A very well made film by the director Kathryn Bigelow and it's screenplay writer by James Cameron.

I just saw it for the first time and really loved it! Angela and Ralph really shine bright here, the suspense and action is intense and the film is very well made and believable. I think it was too ahead of its time for 1995

Another example of why Roger Ebert is the GOAT.

Gene Siskel, the man who barely saw any movie he actually liked. On a related topic, Strange Days is fantastic (give me a 4K release please). Only available in Blu-ray, from Germany (as far as I know).

Strange Days is a really interesting movie. It’s does so many things, and the VR scenes are incredible to this day. It has too many themes for a movie and I think it lacks depth and coherence in certain areas as a result (the messages of LA under decay, police brutality, Sting about what happens to the black musician, etc). It’s ultimately a more human story and that has it’s own weird cyberpunk twist that feels against the previous sentimental tone. I also wasn’t incredibly entertained, more intellectually and visually stimulated by the great designs and themes being thrown at you. Throughout the movie I was amazed a studio would give so much money to such an awkward movie.

Ebert was on the money once again. Watched this for the first time last year, and it became an immediate favorite of mine. Honestly, I think it's a better Blade Runner sequel than 2049 was.

I saw it in the theatre originally, and immediately told the video store I wanted to buy the first overstock (aka used rental) video they had, which I did. Another thing I don't see people talking about is the soundtrack, which was spectacular.

I remember a sequence that was taken out of the original film I saw in theaters. One guy edited a sex climax scene to replay it over and over and ended up dead or really messed up. I watched the film several years ago for the first time since it opened and distinctly remember that scene not being there. What happened?

It's an ok movie. The premise and style are great, but it drags really long.

I absolutely LOVED this movie back in the 90s. It was one of the few movies set in a cyberpunk world and it was so well done. Siskel is a moron for his take on this, and Ebert the genius.

This is a good movie - except for that r-word scene. R.I.P. Tom Sizemore.

If Lenny's an ex-cop he shouldn't be such a sniveling wimp. That's inconsistent. Such a great concept with many major pieces in place but the biggest pieces and execution are off. A movie that would be much better if they cut about 45 minutes. It would be nice for this to get a remake but it was the biggest box office bomb of the year so it's not likely. Kathryn Bigelow got the directing gig on this as part of her divorce settlement from James Cameron who had already done a lot of the prep on it and remained attached as producer. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Starts off promising but just becomes more of the same and I started losing interest in the last third. I think it tried to be too clever by half and it didn't work... for me.

This movie was the blade runner of the 90s. Blade runner was misunderstood as well. Roger Elbert as always way ahead of his partner gene siskel.

The funny thing is this movie is depicting a future that didn't exist in 1995, and because of censorship it barely exists in the real future. In our present, it would be difficult for a private citizen to reveal "the truth" like a major scandal to the public
