Now that our engine has temporarily been fixed, we head to Walderick Wells to visit Boo Boo Hill. We grab a mooring ball at the north end of the park and it is now our favorite place to tie up in the Bahamas!

Ed that was a great solution to tying off to the mooring ball capture the ball from the stern! You are one smart bean counter! Sometimes the Back Door is the best to snag the mooring Ball! The song made me think of this approach.🤣🛫

We always grab them from the side on our boat since it is about 2 foot lower than the pulpit.

Funny about the Mooring balls. We stopped to ride out a storm at Treasure Cay at the more or less abandoned mooring balls there. The problem with those is there are no painters on them. This meant anchoring near, launching the Dinghy and putting on a painter. As other boats came and went, I was the concierge that would help each arrive and depart. Had lots of fun meeting all the other boaters that way. Just to note though that there is a lost left at Treasure Cay except those poor mooring balls. I did back down hard on it and those of there survived the gusting winds to just about 50 mph several times in a 3 day period. I was also trying to see our marker there on Booboo hill we left last year, but you did not get a full shot of all of them. We tried to go this year, but they were fresh out of mooring balls on that side of the Island. We shall certainly get back there there this next year though.

We have been using the same marker for four years. Every time we go we manage to find it again and put it back in it's original spot.

5:49 Oooh, a manchineel tree! Do not touch any part of the tree, or stand under one in the rain. Poison ivy is nothing compared to this plant. You can find them in the Florida Keys. Nobody ever told me about them. As far as I know I never encountered one.
@tryingnottosink91078 ай бұрын
Yep, we stayed far away.
@festerofest43748 ай бұрын
I spent 10 days exploring around the Keys and got pretty good at identifying them. Some are tricky. The black, running "sores" are one of the best confirmations if everything else looks correct (bark color and texture, leaves, etc).
@rideswithscissors8 ай бұрын
@@festerofest4374 Although I was a longtime Floridian I spent more time in The Bahamas than the Keys. I wasn't yet keen about identifying plants. Unless they were edible.

Mooring IMO, is a privacy option, not that most need to be budget friendly, but marina cost can be frankly outrageous. I lived in a 29' express cruiser on the hook in Punta Gorda /Charlotte Harbor for 16 months, and it was no picnic, but no fees except gas for my dingy. I don't get sea-sick, and the rocking let me sleep great. I intend to buy another boat, but I'd like a house boat that is capable to handle some blue water waves as necessary... Source Blessings, and safe journeys.

We moor out occasionally. Sometimes in the Exumas. It is great for a good night's sleep, however, Lyn hates grabbing them.

It's awesome how candid you are about all the ups and the downs. I learn a lot. Just curious, is there any significance to Lyn saying "Roger Out" sometimes after Ed's commentary? Former military maybe?
@kenmay44689 ай бұрын
you say that after Finnish talking on the radio. so it lets everyone know your thru talking so that they know they can speak next
@tryingnottosink91078 ай бұрын
Lyn started saying it a few years back to let me know she was going to stop recording. Eventually, I included it in a video and somehow it became our catch phrase.

What does your Hatt draft? And have you found that it prevents you from exploring all the places you want due to a bigger boat? Ours drafts 5.5 fully loaded, and I’m wondering if that will exclude us from a lot of the best anchorages in the Bahamas
