Any tips to installation for nylon acoustic guitars? (no-plugin)

just tap it once you have it all in position...why would you tap it down when its magnetized and you dont know if its optimal in that spot when you dont know....the tapping is a lil premature. just latch it together, move it a bit, like it, tap it.

I’m not fond of the X-brace being stuck to the inside with adhesive to my Taylor 717 Builders addition. Can I just mount it without the adhesive using the magnets only?
@UkeAbuse4 жыл бұрын
I hear ya bro... I wouldn't put one in an expensive guitar. The end results is damaged wood inside your guitar, and in the end all you really have is built in effects for your guitar because at high volumes you get annoying feedback. This idiot already has a pickup too. I also didnt care for the extra weight the batteries added, which throws the guitar off balance. Good money maker for somebody but I think smart people steer clear of this. Your "tone would" sound better without it.
@tommybear44584 жыл бұрын
You can use it without the stickys yes. And I'm telling you right now this thing is really cool and it dont hurt your guitar. If you left it on permanent it might but if you just take it off after playing it cant possibly hurt the wood. Also the sticky stuff is not strong stick it barley just holds it till you put the amp on. Admittedly I dont have a 5000 guitar but it's my baby and I play it 1000x more than I used to with the tonewood. To me its life changing. But even that said if you have a electric acoustic I dont understand why people would want this . It does the job for the non electric real acoustic tho. Its deff worth the money

Well phooey! A pre-installed pickup is required. None of my acoustics currently have pickups.
@snowblind77584 жыл бұрын
armstronglance No it’s not required actually! Just buy a acoustic electric pickup :) you fit it above the sound hole and it goes out to a 1/4 inch jack to plug in an amp (in this case the tonewood amp!) You don’t have to get this exact fender one, this is just an example. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/0992275000--fender-cypress-acoustic-pickup-single-coil-natural?mrkgadid=3331289660&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=guitars&&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046934876918&lid=92700046934876918&ds_s_kwgid=58700005283398542&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=565609246472&product_id=0992275000&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=%7Bproduct_store_id%7D&device=m&network=g&matchtype=&locationid=%7Bloc_phyiscal_ms%7D&creative=332063179818&targetid=aud-371863008218:pla-565609246472&campaignid=1709882817&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIusTQ0ei56AIViJ6fCh2g3gtjEAQYASABEgI5g_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Will this worked on an acoustic with an arched back and no bracing on the inside?
@Indianawhiskeyandbourbon4 жыл бұрын
If you mean arched back as in an ovation, celebrity or rogue style plastic bowl backed guitars..... I don't know, and that is a great question. I wouldn't think it wouldn't be able to seat properly to the back of the guitar. But if you mean arched as in solid wood or laminate that has a slight arch to it, it should work fine. Maybe you could give a model number of the guitar in question.

Does the X brace 'straddle' the (any) cross brace on the inside of the guitar back?
@tracecharles53634 жыл бұрын
It does not obstruct any bracing if that is your consern. As long as you do your due diligence on your specific guitar. Make sure you feel around an see the topography of the inside of yours. It could as you said "straddle" some.
@cowboy7x4 жыл бұрын
@@tracecharles5363 'Straddle', not obstruct. From a cutaway video (From TWA) I see that the x brace DOES straddle the last cross brace at the end of the guitar. (Depending on the guitar of course) But thanks for the reply. Your video DID show what the sound can be like with this unit and helped me decide to get one. Especially now that there's a great sale going on and free shipping. Peace!

Would this work with pick ups like k&ks? Thank you
@davemakarchuk51274 жыл бұрын
Just ordered the k&k pure mini...will be installing it as soon as it arrives. I've had my Tonewood amp for over a year now, but the only acoustic guitar I have with a pickup is a 12 string Takamine. The pickup is aftermarket, but not k&k. Tonewood amp sounds fantastic with it, but I bought it to use primarily with my six string. If you haven't yet tried it with the k&k, I can let you know how I think the combination sounds after I install mine, though from what I've heard, the two of them together sound sweet.
@richardwheeler37684 жыл бұрын
@@davemakarchuk5127 What's the update? I've got K&K in my Larrivee and was wondering how it would sound.
@davemakarchuk51274 жыл бұрын
@@richardwheeler3768 overall it sounds excellent. However, I found that on every effect setting (i.e., hall, leslie, 2 rooms, etc.), I had to lower the gain and feedback settings substantially in order to avoid getting actual feedback from the amp. That is, compared to my 12 string, which is a larger dreadnought size guitar that also has a passive style aftermarket pick-up, though I'm not sure which brand. My six string (Simon and Patrick Concert Hall Showcase Mahogany Burnt Umber) is quite a bit smaller. I think having to reduce the gain and feedback settings on the TA when using with the six string is more about the size of the guitar and less about the type of pick-up, though it could be a little of both. Anyway, once I played around with the TA settings long enough to figure out what worked best with each effect, I was happy with the result (I've experimented with all of them, but I use the delay effect primarily, which sounds awesome btw). Hope that helps.
@richardwheeler37684 жыл бұрын
@@davemakarchuk5127, that really does help. I have a Larrivee Grand Auditorium, and hearing that your 6-string is also smaller, that gives me an honest comparison. I'm glad that you like it!

Save yourself 30 dollars by making your own additional x-braces for all your guitars.
@tracecharles53635 жыл бұрын
Cool idea
@mC_DiDiDiDiDi5 жыл бұрын
@@tracecharles5363 I've figured out a method where there is also less weight: Use the x-brace supplied (or make a new one), attach 1/3 sized (or smaller) magnets to the larger magnets. Add sticky tape to the small magnets, place the brace in the guitar. Remove the brace, leaving behind the smaller magnets. Add 4 magnets that make those smaller magnets in the guitar roughly equal to those on the original x-brace. Repeat this process for any guitars you wish to install the amp on. The only cost is that of the magnets, unless you build a new brace, cheap either way. Be careful when attaching/detaching magnets, many are fragile and can break easily. Also, weigh the small magnet, find out what size/weight of magnet you will need to add to it to replicate the original magnet.

To me, there are just so many things wrong with this thing. Just like howard, definitely NOT for me. First, I would NEVER put this on an expensive, nice guitar. I cringed just hearing you put the thing on the outside of the guitar. And to put something on the inside? "For Good"? I don't think so. Not to mention I have to believe that it has to effect the sound created by the bracing in some way. Guitar manufacturers spend so much research on bracing. How can you put something like this in there that in effect, interferes with the sound that bracing is designed to produce? Also, doesn't that interfere with you when you're playing it? And HOLY SHIT! I just checked the price. $250.00???!!!! You have to be out of your mind! Damn, spend another $80.00 and you have a Fishman Loudbox Mini! But hey, to each his own.
