really helpful, thank you for doing this. I'm confused what the volume control on your Alvarez has to do with it though. I don't have any volume controls on my acoustic

It controls the gain/volume from the pickup going into the tonewood.

Does the X brace 'straddle' the (any) cross brace on the inside of the guitar back?
@tracecharles53634 жыл бұрын
It does not obstruct any bracing if that is your consern. As long as you do your due diligence on your specific guitar. Make sure you feel around an see the topography of the inside of yours. It could as you said "straddle" some.
@cowboy7x4 жыл бұрын
@@tracecharles5363 'Straddle', not obstruct. From a cutaway video (From TWA) I see that the x brace DOES straddle the last cross brace at the end of the guitar. (Depending on the guitar of course) But thanks for the reply. Your video DID show what the sound can be like with this unit and helped me decide to get one. Especially now that there's a great sale going on and free shipping. Peace!

why did you have to connect it to your guitar preamp?? i thought the tonewood doesnt need you guitar to have preamp?
@tracecharles53635 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the huge non response i did not think i would get that much interest. The output is plugged in to the tonewood essentially is a mini amp.. Then it has an out put to go to FOH.

It seems the X brace isn’t necessary, does not affect the sound yes?

X brace holds the unit in place.

Well phooey! A pre-installed pickup is required. None of my acoustics currently have pickups.
@snowblind77584 жыл бұрын
armstronglance No it’s not required actually! Just buy a acoustic electric pickup :) you fit it above the sound hole and it goes out to a 1/4 inch jack to plug in an amp (in this case the tonewood amp!) You don’t have to get this exact fender one, this is just an example. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/0992275000--fender-cypress-acoustic-pickup-single-coil-natural?mrkgadid=3331289660&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=guitars&&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046934876918&lid=92700046934876918&ds_s_kwgid=58700005283398542&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=565609246472&product_id=0992275000&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=%7Bproduct_store_id%7D&device=m&network=g&matchtype=&locationid=%7Bloc_phyiscal_ms%7D&creative=332063179818&targetid=aud-371863008218:pla-565609246472&campaignid=1709882817&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIusTQ0ei56AIViJ6fCh2g3gtjEAQYASABEgI5g_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I think it works on an ordinary non picked guitar. It works with or without. The tone wood has its own sensors.

how about a fast external mount for several guitars or does it have to touch the wood?

Would this work with pick ups like k&ks? Thank you
@davemakarchuk51274 жыл бұрын
Just ordered the k&k pure mini...will be installing it as soon as it arrives. I've had my Tonewood amp for over a year now, but the only acoustic guitar I have with a pickup is a 12 string Takamine. The pickup is aftermarket, but not k&k. Tonewood amp sounds fantastic with it, but I bought it to use primarily with my six string. If you haven't yet tried it with the k&k, I can let you know how I think the combination sounds after I install mine, though from what I've heard, the two of them together sound sweet.
@richardwheeler37684 жыл бұрын
@@davemakarchuk5127 What's the update? I've got K&K in my Larrivee and was wondering how it would sound.
@davemakarchuk51274 жыл бұрын
@@richardwheeler3768 overall it sounds excellent. However, I found that on every effect setting (i.e., hall, leslie, 2 rooms, etc.), I had to lower the gain and feedback settings substantially in order to avoid getting actual feedback from the amp. That is, compared to my 12 string, which is a larger dreadnought size guitar that also has a passive style aftermarket pick-up, though I'm not sure which brand. My six string (Simon and Patrick Concert Hall Showcase Mahogany Burnt Umber) is quite a bit smaller. I think having to reduce the gain and feedback settings on the TA when using with the six string is more about the size of the guitar and less about the type of pick-up, though it could be a little of both. Anyway, once I played around with the TA settings long enough to figure out what worked best with each effect, I was happy with the result (I've experimented with all of them, but I use the delay effect primarily, which sounds awesome btw). Hope that helps.
@richardwheeler37684 жыл бұрын
@@davemakarchuk5127, that really does help. I have a Larrivee Grand Auditorium, and hearing that your 6-string is also smaller, that gives me an honest comparison. I'm glad that you like it!
