I turned one into a UV printer for cyanotypes by popping of back light LEDs filters, I was surprised by the wavelength with filters off but happy accident!

i created ai to diagnose broken tv's, give instructions to a tech for repair, and order the correct parts for replacement for a company over a decade ago and my entire department got fired because the software was so simple to use. never doing that for anyone again without a few extra zeroes on my paycheck.

I've read some comments online (elsewhere) that Anker isn't UL certified for the US so insurance companies won't insure a house using them - can you confirm/comment on this? This seems like such a useful energy storage system for my home!

You can 100% fix a tv/monitor with a broken screen. Also they are no longer TVs the are just monitors since most no longer have TV tuners in them.
@FrugalRepairКүн бұрын
You have to replace the lcd but you can’t fix the lcd. The big issue is that no one sells replacement lcds for tvs. I’ve swapped them from other tvs but that’s the only way I’ve found to truly repair the tv since screens aren’t generally for sale.

@FrugalRepairКүн бұрын
Thank you! No, the problem is inside the LCD assembly so changing the tcon board would not help.

what if the ghosts pictures continue after wiping or tapping the Tcon
@FrugalRepairКүн бұрын
If you have tried every combination to help rid the tv of the lines/ghosting then it's possible the internal problem in the LCD is such that blocking row signal(s) won't help the picture get restored.
@RighAlbanКүн бұрын
I just buy a new screen, its about a qurter of the price if replacing the TV, same goes for power supplies, I fixed my last TV for less than $10, power supplies do not go for upwards of $100.
@FrugalRepairКүн бұрын
You won’t be able to find a tv lcd screen for sale. That’s the problem.

I use a store here in the UK called spares2repair I've never not got what I needed, even got power supplies and a screen for some real off brand units. Don't know if you've heard of the TV brand UMC because I hadn't and this place had every I needed. A 42" 1080p LCD panel and power supply for it, it was £52.79 after tax cost me another £12 to get is shipped. So about $80 or close to for a full repair, but they have an abundance of stock for main brands like Samsung, LG and Hisense or similar, it's a great store, it's a good side hustle fixing things.
@FrugalRepairКүн бұрын
That’s great you have a place like that. In the US, big lcd screens are all but impossible to find for sale.

Might be different in the US, but I've yet to pay more than £20 ( 25USD ) for a PCB. We do get a lot of cheap generic sets made by Vestel here. They invariably fail to power on or will take forever to switch on. Strips of blue caps for the power boards these can be bought for peanuts. I've repaired 10 free TV's for about £3.

I have an ASUS 27" Monitor, that a floor lamp fell over, and onto. The Screen was cracked, but when the Monitor is on, It is hard to notice. It looks to me like a protective clear piece of plastic. Again, no weird artifacts or display issues. Can I repair this, do I need a specific piece from ASUS, or can I get a regular sheet cut to size at a local Plastic outlet (We have a few, "Mr Plastic" stores in this area)
@FrugalRepair5 күн бұрын
The outer layer on the lcd screen is the front polarizing film. You wouldn't want to mess with that though you could technically replace it. If the lcd is cracked you won't be able to fix it. You could replace it though if you can find an lcd for sale (which for a TV is near impossible but maybe you can get one for a 27" monitor). You might want to live with it if it's hard to notice.

@frugalRepair Thanks for reminding me you posted this video the other day! How bright is the light on the Anker Solix C300? Would it be bright enough for my 10 by 12 shed?
@FrugalRepair5 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The light's probably bright enough for a space like that to generally see and not bump into things but not bright enough to work by. Like if you had a workbench and wanted to work there at night, I'd suggest a brighter overhead light (but you could still run it from a power station like this one.)
