One of the problems with some of the C8 drivers they forgot all corvettes deserve great treatment especially classics.

I’ve got a mostly restored C4 from 1989 that I think about flipping for one of the “malaise era” <200hp C3s, but I just can’t bring myself to do it; the C4 is better in every way. Except looks. No American car has ever looked better than the mid-1960s C3.

I have a 1976 Corvette. I bought it over 30 years ago. The birdcage is ok, but the body mount bolts were rusted badly. I'll bet the threads are rusted away on the body mount bolt on left front of the red car.

Buy from auction with caution! I've heard thousands of horror stories from auction buyers
@76vette

Buyers have to inspect the vehicle they’re interested in buying (or have it inspected) BEFORE bidding. Mecum’s FAQs clearly explain this. - “Are Mecum auction cars inspected? No. Mecum auctions simply coordinates the auctioning of vehicles on behalf of the sellers. We encourage you to inspect the vehicles, in person, at the auction, prior to bidding, as all vehicles are sold as-is, where-is.” - www.mecum.com/faq/

at 4:18 how the choke plate is opening. It was close then open without touching gaz pedal? Thank you
@76vette
@76vette 2 күн бұрын
Yes, that’s the recommended calibration so some air will mix with the gas as soon as the engine fires. And that’s just a partially opened choke plate. Remember that the ideal air-to-fuel ratio is 14.7 grams of air for 1 gram of fuel.

@@76vette thanks but how the plate goes to close at partially open in split seconde? i don't understand that.
@76vette
@76vette 2 күн бұрын
@ There’s a small vacuum-operated valve called the choke pull-off that takes care of that. Without air, the engine would flood and it would not run.

@@76vette i understand now. I've got an Edelbrock, there's no vacuum on my choke. I'll keep trying to figure it out. Thanks for the video!

I had a really nice 73 that got a lot of looks. Solid frame and birdcage. C3s are weird quirky cars, I liked having it but I don't miss it. I dont need to even own one again...haha Fulfilled that fantasy.

@@76vetteOn the 79 they have a different locking plate retainer. Instead of a ring it looks more like a horseshoe, and that’s what my question was going to be about. Oh well. Thanks.

@@76vetteThe horseshoe retainer has a slight indication on one side. Your pic. looks like the indentation side is facing down. Mine slides in either way, but have it facing down also. Just wondering what is the purpose of that indentation, and should it be facing up, down, or does it matter? Thanks!
@76vette
@76vette 3 күн бұрын
@ I believe the indentation should be facing the shaft. In other words, the flat part of the C clip should rest against the locking plate.
