Headlight Not Working? Troubleshoot & Fix!

You can easily troubleshoot and solve headlight problems yourself by doing basic tests. Not every repair requires a new replacement part.
One of the low-beam lights on my 1981 Corvette only worked when the high beams were on. After making sure the wiring and terminal were ok, I used a test light to see if there was electricity at the terminals. There was not.
So, after closer inspection, it was obvious that dirt accumulation and heavy corrosion were the causing the problem, something that was easily corrected by cleaning the terminals with sanding paper and a small wire brush.
By doing some basic tests you can troubleshoot your headlights or any other electrical issues and determine what needs to be repaired or replaced.
Best of all, you don't have to waste time and money having a mechanic look at it. That should always be your last option.

I recommend a brass wire brush for cleaning terminals. Works great.

Dremel tool with a small wire wheel works VERY well on stuff like that. it actually gets under some of the terminal that sandpaper can't

Great video. That car is looking really good compared to when you got it. Engine compartment, wiper area and interior all looking great.
