Great video! I hate the trouble of ignition shielding but I don't like seeing it missing, one of those things that makes a Corvette a Corvette!👍

Emi can occur with any hei distributor or magneto vehicle, today's vehicles have several bond straps, solid core spark plug wires caused emi as well, it's why you don't see them used in common applications.

Now I understand why I see so many late model C3's without the shield installed. What a pain in the engine bay! And yes make the required modifications to lower the rear so the tires fit in the rear wheel wells better. Thanks for sharing another great video.👍

It’s great. Somebody finally has a video on that. This is one of the biggest pain in the butts. Every time I have to take mine off or something I dread putting it back.

This is helpful. I just bought a 1981 Corvette yesterday. Stayed at the Trump Doral hotel for a mini vaca with the wife. Bought the car Saturday and got so many "nice car"s and head turns from guests, valets, and hotel staff. One of which rode on the shuttle with my wife and ended up sending us a bottle of wine and candy to our room. This car (also white) got more attention than a McClaren that was in valet parking. Drove it 3.5 hours home sweating bullets that is would overheat, it was close but didn't. Got home and ordered a new aluminum radiator to replace the, looks like original, radiator. And so it begins...

That’s awesome. And yes, most people love these cars. And they always want to guess the year. Lol 😆 Btw, yours should also have an electric fan in front of the radiator. 😊👍🏻

OMG I’m not even a minute in and so excited for this video. I bought one of these a year or more ago to make my car more original and couldn’t figure out how to do it so it’s just been hanging on the wall since and no one else has done this. So excited to watch this, thank you!

@@76vette all of your videos are helpful. Can’t wait for each one, especially on the 81. So many people just cut the legs off of that so they’re not dealing with it and still looks like it’s original

@@76vettedo you know where that ground strap that connects to the shield is coming from? I don’t have that so previous owner must’ve used something else and grounded somewhere else
@76vette6 ай бұрын
@@michaelriley3110 It is grounded to the block at one of the valve cover studs. If you want to clean it up, you can ground it elsewhere and use a black wire connected to the engine or the chassis. 😊👍🏻

I watched all the way through and I was not bored. I like the slow and detailed way you approached this job - the video reflected that. Thanks. I am looking at C3's and hope to make that happen in the future. I want to get away from modern cars that are too complicated and when they break you cannot fix them .....nor can your dealer. I do not need a heated steering wheel! Insane!

Does it seem a little odd that the passenger side hood release cable just seems so much longer that just a straight path to the release?
@76vette6 ай бұрын
I guess it does look a bit odd, but I am guessing it may have to be longer to compensate for body flex?!?! I’m totally guessing but I just trust the engineering, even if I don’t understand it. 😆👍🏻

Hi, How did you lower the front of the Red C3? Greetings from The Netherlands

I had one coil on each spring removed when I bought the car. www.76vette.com/2016/01/lowering-front-end-by-cutting-coil.html
