Been doing some work on the home front including turning an old guest room into a video editing studio. So, after the holiday I'll be back working on post-production 😃. Glad you made it to Kofa and had a little adventure in the process! I'm sure the mountain lion sensed you were grumpy old overland people and made the wise decision to move on 🤣. Thanks for sharing!

This looks like something ai need in my life 😝- so what’s the gas mileage ???
@tedthompson54036 күн бұрын
Well it WAS about 12 with the 35's and the front bumper. After this build is done probably 10 1/2 to 11 and 10 with the Patriot X3. Off-road I'm hoping no worse than 9. Not too different than our 4Runner but it runs on premium.
@randyallen15446 күн бұрын
he TOLD you not to ask. overland rigs, generally speaking, are about 11 mpg. 35" or larger tires, and a lift and suspension generally trash milage and reduce it to a winnebago with a 460 ford gas engine.
@adventurebeyond605 күн бұрын
🤣 and like I said we don't really get into overloading for the mileage. Because of that we will also be adding a 25 gal Long Range America gas tank just as we did the the 4Runner. Probably the most useful mod on the 4Runner beyond the basic suspension/tire modifications. Well, I guess they are all useful at one point or another 😛

What do you think about the Lexus GXs as compared to the 4Runner and LC?
@randyallen15448 сағат бұрын
@@adventurebeyond60 i've got LRA tanks on the JL jeep. jeeps get such good milage. second only to their reliability. second week in april, jill and i have a week down in the bottom of the maze in canyonlands. there is room on the permit for a second vehicle, if you've never been there. holler if interested, and we can discuss it over the phone, and see if it'd be a good fit.

@adventurebeyond605 күн бұрын
Hey Mark! Somehow this comment just surfaced for me - sorry about the late reply. Many of the shot that look like drone shots are done with the Insta360 camera that Debbie holds out the window on a 10' pole. When I'm actually flying the drone while the vehicle is moving, then Debbie is driving and I'm flying the drone from the passenger seat.

I'm just curious to know what you're using for cameras to shoot your video what resolution are you shooting in and uploading it
@adventurebeyond605 ай бұрын
We use a variety of cameras. All video is shot in 4K but frame rate and color depth depend on the platform. Primary cameras are the Sony A7SIII andl A7RV with a variety of lenses usually at 60fps. Next is the Insta360 X3 shot in 5.8K (recently upgraded to the X4 at 8K). However post production reduces the resolution to roughly 4K. We have a couple of GoPros at 4K and 3 drones Mavic 3 Cine, Mavic mini pro 3, and a Mavic Air 2. With most cameras we shoot in log mode and all video goes through manual color grading in post production with the final video being rendered in 4K HDR (HLG format). The HLG format seems to work best with KZbin. With the Insta360 and GoPro their log format isn’t the greatest so we shoot in HDR and I still tweak the color grading. It’s labor intensive hence we are way behind in getting releasing content. But the quality of the content is very important to us. Thanks for asking!
@BackcountryNomad5 ай бұрын
@@adventurebeyond60 That explains a lot. I have been slowing migrating to 4K but its brutal on my computer hardware, I guess I need to bite the built and spend about 5K on a system that will handle it. I appreciate your detail and explanation
