Magnificent diesel report Simon and you too Micheal. One of the class 20 diesels had an interesting number, 20 007. The numbers at the end represents the same number that famous British agent James Bond carries. The combination of HST power cars was interesting to see because it's rare to see them coupled together like this. It's amazing that one distraction can take the attention away from the trains so easily, it seems that the artwork in the station was too much to resist, and the class 57 diesel caught you unawares! Whoops! Ah well, at least you got to see the same train the next day. Also, the class 66 diesels top and tailing on a freight train, that was awesome, and the horn shows that some of the drivers gave you was wonderful to listen to. It's my birthday on Thursday and to celebrate, I'll be going to Tasmania which is Australia's only Island state and I'm going to the Don River Railway near Devonport to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its establishment, there is going to be a selection of guest locomotives going to visit and it is one of the biggest railway gatherings in Tasmanian history, I'm really excited! Anyway, how are things getting on? Keep up the great diesel updates, because it's always absolutely brilliant especially with the excitement of seeing them pass. Take care Simon and Micheal keep your steam up Kevig

Train-tastic video of the Marlowe, Maidenhead and district model railway club winter exhibition Simon. I especially loved the upside-down model railway, that made me laugh because it is a very funny concept. How did the people making that layout manage to keep the trains in one place without falling down? All the other layouts were great to see, the Whitmoor layout in N scale was particularly interesting because they had Tomix Thomas and Friends models which is pretty hard to find in Australian model railway shops. Which layout did you enjoy the most? Keep your steam up Simon and you too Micheal. take care. Kevig

You might want to file down the ends of the stationary rails to give smoother transition from it to them, as they're a tad taller rail, as I'm sure you know...Your weathering technique is very good.. Don't know if ya need the 'bricks' as it could all just be 'concrete'..But maybe it's a common British look..I'm a Yank. You've got some beautiful locos and a very nice looking layout.. Don't mess it up with those paper backgrounds where the 2D building pic's vanishing points on it don't move as we move past them..That's a pet peeve of mine that I see on too many otherwise excellent MRRs. I did inquire about 'indexing'/lining up the TT. But I deleted that part of this post due to seeing your answer to @flashpoint8909, below.

had an N gauge one of these, and will be getting an OO one, that motor kit looks perfect. the only comment to add is when you put the well into the layout keep in mind where the deck crosses the slight dead space on the split ring, make sure thats at an angle you will never want track on as it creates a small dead spot and can potentially short out on the N gauge one looks lovely installed and shows you don't need a fancy indexing disc etc, just drive manually
@SimonsTrainAdventures
@SimonsTrainAdventures 22 күн бұрын
Yes good point about the drop out. I forgot to include that in the video. With some of my locos the sound goes off as it crosses the dead spot. Others have a sufficiently large stay-alive capacitor to bridge the gap.

Thanks. It’s all just done by sight at the moment. There are ways of indexing it with a DCC decoder and pre-programmed stopping points but I’m not sure we will go down that route. It’s quite fun driving it by hand and the motor turns really slowly and smoothly.

As far as your brick seam, you may not like this but, lay your strips end to end and cut out every other brick so they interlock as actual bricks. Remembering that your last strip has to interlock with your first strip. Great work from USA. Ralph

@ yes sir, they are. Have you considered a head magnifying glass with light? They’re very good for small work like that. They have other brick types that are 3-D. Which may not work because of the room that you have from the wall to the table itself. Well, nonetheless looks good mate

Great installation! A few years ago I used the EXPO motorising kit for the Peco turntable that came with no support structure for the motor and gearbox underneath the well which the user has to create. It is also quite noisy in operation. Your Locomotech system seems like a better option.

Train-tastic progress on the turntable Simon and you too Michael. It's interesting how you used gorilla super glue to stick the pieces together. It was pretty funny how the hammer 🔨 came onto the scene. It must've been very tricky putting the motor into place. But in the end you made it! Now your train shed has a working turntable for the tender engines to turn round because as we've seen through Thomas the tank engine it is dangerous for tender engines to run fast tender first whereas tank engines don't need them as they can go in both directions without derailing. At the Newport railway workshops which is the headquarters of Steamrail Victoria they have a hand operated turntable and it requires a team of volunteers to turn the engine round, I've seen this practice demonstrated during their biannual open day. Very cool operation. How are things getting on by the way? Did you hear about rail200? Take care Simon and you too Michael. Keep your steam up. Kevig

Train tastic gala Simon, when there is a steam gala in town everyone comes to see them. What a start to 2025! Even though this video was made last year. A pity that on the first day that Dinmore Mannor derailed. This incident reminds me of when 46521 derailed on trap points at a gala on the great central railway in Loughborough. But at least the team managed to make the best of their situation and they were able to put it back on the rails in no time. You were a very lucky duck when the driver put his driving hat on your head and went into the cab of the class 03 diesel shunter and toot the horn. I heard recently that the rail 200 celebrations have started with a bang with engines from all over the UK blowing their whistles and horns to begin the celebration. And by crikey what a show they put on. I also heard some sad news recently, because Britt Allcroft the woman who brought Thomas and Friends to life on the small screen, has passed away. Though it is upsetting, we wouldn't be the people who we are today if it wasn't for Britt's efforts to bring the Rev W Awdry's creations to the world. I'm looking forward to seeing your review on the gwr Mannor class in oo scale. Take care Simon and Michael Keep your steam up Kevig
