Elvis never had the best vocal tone, but gotta admit this is his best live vocal performance I've seen him do....Salut to him, and RIP Burt....❤

I met Mr. Clark Terry in 2010 and Pine Bluff Arkansas. He is one of my mentors and I love his music. I will always love his music.

I’d play this on my guitar nightly while my dad was wrought with cancer. Didn’t really listen to the lyrics except for god give me strength. The emotion of Elvis brings me back. Thinking now maybe the “she” was his cancer. Bit of a stretch maybe but I know he is with god now and looking after all his loved ones

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform at NU HS at the University of Northern Iowa a year or two before this. My drum corp instructor/private tutor invited me to the concert, and even took me back stage to meet him. I still have the program from that concert with his autograph on the front. A very kind and generous man, and a total inspiration to a young horn blower.

Still quote this as being the most impressive thing I've seen performed live, and I've seen many. Cardiff 1999, his un-mic'd voice filled the 2000 seater auditorium. Lonely World Tour.

I can’t listen to any woman singing this song. They sing about masculine on both sides therefore misrepresenting what Burt Bacharach meant. I’m not a fan of changing lyrics but in this case I would understand but at least do it correctly otherwise the song has lost its meaning.

Don't ever let anybody tell you you need a college degree in Music to be a professional musician. 90% of all the people they study in music school don't have degrees.

If they want a family, advanced degrees will enable teaching positions. Single person, absolutely must chase that now.

My freshman year in high school Mr. Terry came and did a clinic and concert. I was 14- he was the first African-American man I ever met. I blew a chorus on "Cold Potato Stomp" and after the show my jazz-loving grandfather had his picture taken with Clark. He carried that with him till he passed. The next year Ed Shaughnessy came- Hollywood as all get out. Seems like another lifetime now...

I see some comments about spotting celebrated performers in the ensemble, and how big Seiji's conducting is. I was in the chorus for this event. This was the finale, and just about everyone who had performed all evening joined us onstage. So that's why you see well-known people who were generally soloists and conductors singing in the ensemble. As @barbaraclemens7728 commented, it was an enormous cast. And it was a huge stage. The conducting had to be big to be seen at all. In addition to Upshaw and Hadley, John Williams, John Mauceri, Mstislav Rostropovich, Victor Borge, YoYo Ma, Quincy Jones, Frederica von Stade, Barbara Hendricks, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, Kitty Carlisle, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Seiji Ozawa, Larry Kert, Patti Austin, Bobby McFerrin, Midori, and Bernstein's kids and son in law performed. Beverly Sills hosted. Lauren Bacall sang a parody of Weill's Jenny, written by Stephen Sondheim. Christa Ludwig was adorable, singing I Am Easily Assimilated, dancing and playing the castanets. And I'm probably forgetting a few people. Most of it can be found on KZbin, in bits and pieces. When I teach my piano students about 7/8 meter, I show them the opening number, the first movement of the Chichester Psalms, and help them feel the beat. I also let them make fun of my 1980s hair when they spot me. 😁 Oh, and if they or any of their siblings play the drums, I point out the man whose name is probably on their drumsticks, Vic Firth.
