Sometimes, like the third song, I don't really see it. I think sometimes you might be seeing a pattern in another pattern. But well it's been 10 years, still a good observation back then c:

Hahaha, I personally think there are GameMaker users out there who are *miles ahead* than me in terms of what they can do, but I appreciate your comment. Never give up, I'm sure you'll get there!

been too busy to comment but finally, I can show my face once more. This song got the epic power of rock and the crispy elements of Touhou style blended perfectly! And do I need to mention, GUITAR SOLO SHDKSHSH❤ I await your next banger :3

yooo this is so cool! one thing i wonder, how did you do heat haze effect around the boss, its something i've been struggling with
@KurenaiTheScarletBullgon23 күн бұрын
Thank you very much!! That effect was done by taking a snapshot of the background, and then said snapshot is being drawn under a surface, which I can dye with any color I want. The waviness was done by using one of GameMaker's built-in shaders.

it looks really promising! a problem with danmakufu is the frame rate drops pretty fast - will Hourai Elixir style patterns (aka bullet spamming) make it lag?
@KurenaiTheScarletBullgon25 күн бұрын
I think I've mentioned that in another person's comment, but my game does lag if the bullets reach over 2000. I've been trying to find ways to optimize them but none have been successful, so right now I've added a limit so that no more than 2000 bullets are on screen.

All artist have some constant that shows up in most of their music. But I like when artist like Zun use it sparingly but do it enough that when heard by close listeners, it becomes the thing that is known for defining their sound. When many of us hear Touhou music, its safe to imagine that there is some dance hall with the many characters across each game dancing to some oh the upbeat tracks while Zun and some other backup musicians (maybe, Rinnousuke and Myorin or the Prism River Sisters) rock out on stage. -Edit- Mmmm or perhaps Raiko or even Benben. Yeah let’s just reduce male characters as bartenders serving sake that causes oni fights to break out. It’ll give Aya something to report the next day.

Thanks a lot! As much as I'd like to record tutorials on how I did things, I feel like that would take plenty of time, taking into account what I have managed to program. In hindsight, I should've done so back when I started... oh well, too late now.

Hey guys, it's been about a month since I've shown this, so I figured it'd be appropriate to provide here a monthly devlog to show how much this engine of mine is progressing. With that said, here's what I managed to do since: (NOTE: These are ALL genuine, by the way. April Fools has no relation on this, honest!) ☑ Main menu has been added with _partial_ functionality. I'm putting that word in italic because, while you can highlight different options, selecting some of them does things while others don't really do anything. However, considering how it's already implemented, I already have the blueprint to create the other menus, such as the one you use while pausing the game. ☑ Speaking of pausing, that has been added as well! I still have to do some tweaking to its visual aesthetic, but overall, it works just as one would expect. ☑ Gamepad support has been added; it was done thanks to the inclusion of Juju Adams' "Input" library! While this not only means the game can be played with a controller, players will also be able to bind buttons to whatever they're comfortable with... well, as long as I implement an options menu for that, lol. ☑ I punched myself in the teeth to force myself into learning how to use primitives and data structures. With that, curvy lasers have been implemented, so now everyone can suffer by having war flashbacks of Shou's non-spells. ☑ Enemies can now move in more than just a single direction. ☑ Gameplay gimmick has been implemented. Not gonna say what it is until I announce my Touhou fangame sometime in the future, but to give you a hint, it works kind of like the Season Gauge from Touhou 16. And that's pretty much it! I still have plenty of work to do, but looking at this list, I'm very pleased by how things are shaping up so far. Right now I'm currently attempting to include Marisa as a playable character, which should be a piece of cake, given I can use the already-programmed Reimu as the blueprint. The latter is coded as "obj_player", after all, lmao. So yeah, for those who've read this, thank you very much for being interested on this project of mine. See you in May for the next devlog!

great work on the progress thus far!! making huge strides :D
